Those outside the Mopar community might find it difficult to understand why the Hellcat motor needed a High Output version. Then again, with the Demon, which introduced this goodie, currently heading towards its 9.65s quarter-mile goal, perhaps the need for an 808/840 hp output is not that difficult to explain. Then again, with the Demon having now retired, it's time for the 2019 Challenger Hellcat Redeye to take on the role of a range-topper.
With its 797 ponies, you would imagine that the colored machine is enough to please enthusiasts (and make Demon owners angry). Well, you'd be wrong, since the aftermarket side of the industry already has plans for the newcomer.
To be more precise, Hennessey has announced an upgrade for the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye.
The Lone Star State developer has already hit us with the numbers for the not-yet-in-our-garages muscle car and these are meaty enough. That's because the Texan specialist talks about a rear wheel output of 880 hp and 806 lb-ft of torque.
Of course, aftermarket specialist enjoys delivering us the dyno numbers, hence the units above. Then again, Hennessey also provided a crankshaft output estimation, talking about 1,035 ponies and 948 lb-ft of twist.
The trip to the gym has also been detailed. You see, the 6.2-liter HEMI will be gifted with a larger supercharger, one that packs 4.5 liters. It will also feature a pulley upgrade, a throttle body upgrade, stainless steel long tube headers, high-flow catalytic converters, a high-flow supercharger valve, along with upgrades for the injectors and fuel pump.
As for the warranty, the company covers one year or 12,000 miles.
Of course, we're looking forward to seeing the thing putting all the muscle to the ground - we're referring to the good old quarter-mile game.
Keep in mind that while the Redeye can be had in both "standard" and Widebody trim, the developer obviously chose the latter for its demon image, as the fatter tires will help with that takeoff.
