When the Dodge Demon came out, its sheer grunt, namely 808 hp or 840 hp on race juice, wasn't necessarily the one that took us by surprise and that's because the Hellcat's 707 ponnies has already prepared us for absurdly high factory numbers. Then again, the 1/4-mile numbers of the Demon did swipe us off our feet.
The first surprise came when Dodge announced that its halo car would complete the 1,320 feet sprint in 9.65 seconds at over 140 mph.

Then there was the second shock - even after completing the break-in, the thing wouldn't go under 10 seconds. Sure, it took the drivers a while to get used to their blown HEMI monsters, but, even so, the best time sat at 9.9 seconds.

And the explanation for this seems to be the weather - muscle car aficionados are currently expecting the cooler autumn mood to see the muscle coupe matching the time slip its maker showcased when the car was launched.

Well, another step towards that goal may have recently been made. To be more precise, a Demon delivered a 9.83s quarter-mile pass at 136.19 mph.

The shenanigan took place over in Canada, with the uber-Challenger having visited the Mission Raceway Park.

Then again, it seems that the Demon was stock apart from the tires - despite the carmaker fitting the machine with Nitto-supplied rubber, this owner prefers to make the all-out choice and install a pair of drag radials. Of course, this has started a debate on the Internet.

Judging by the soundtrack of the video that showcases the adventure, it seems that the man used the Transbrake, so the grip was fully there. We're referring to the high rpm and the fact that the rear tires didn't get roasted once the car set off.

Speaking of which, the hefty pre-prace burnouts easily showcased the driver's ambition.

While we mentioned the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, we'll remind you that the modded car record currently belongs to Hennessey, who used its 1,000+ hp Demon to deliver a 9.13s pass.
