Twin-Turbo 2018 Ford Mustang GT Drops Amazing 8.6s Quarter-Mile Run

The 2018 Ford Mustang GT has already proven its sprinting might, especially when talking about the ten-speed automatic introduced by the mid-cycle revision of the pony. Of course, the said tech setup has opened new doors for the aftermarket side of the industry.

And since we have a sweet spot for muscle cars, we've been keeping an eye out for MY18 'Stang adventures. We've already shown you an example that has kept its natural aspiration, albeit running an E85 setup, as well as two twin-turbo units.

We are now back on the topic, as one of the said TT GTs requires special attention. That's because we're talking about what is probably the quickest animal of its kind.

Earlier today, we brought you this Mustang as part of a street racing series. As you can imagine, the owner also took the machine to the drag strip and the results were impressive.

As we mentioned above, the Coyote heart of this muscle car has been gifted with a twin-turbo setup. Nevertheless, the rest of the tech bits of the car have remained in stock conditions - we're referring to the ten-speed auto and the rear diff, among others.

The Mustang managed to play the 1,320 feet game in 8.64 seconds, while its trap speed sat at 164 mph (keep in mind that the driver was aiming for an 8.5s pass).

Things stopped there, since, as the owner explains in the Instagram post at the bottom of the page, the rear diff decided to quit its job - keep in mind that the launches at the track are even harder than those performed on the street, given the prepped surface of the strip.

Then again, this aficionado has a thing for pushing street cars past the limit and replacing the broken bits with aftermarket goodies. For one thing, the gearhead has pulled similar stunts with a third-generation Cadillac CTS-V.

Well well.. Had a hell of a time at the Quick30 last night! Hanging out singing and dancing with all my friends! With some Dos XX and fajitas! We were out trying to run 8.5s and it was looking real promising until the diff said nah lol anyways very happy with what weve accomplished on stock motor and stock transmission 8.64@164 This thing is just wild and actin up! Thank you everybody that was out there with us helping! Putting new diff and going to the track tuesday! Just wanna go 8.5s before i put new setup in lol #aldoweldskit #lundtuned #midnightperformance #ImthePappi
