APRILIA SX 50 (2012-2013) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Aprilia SX 50 was a supermotard bike produced by Aprilia since 2006 alongside the RX 50 model. The bike was powered by a single-cylinder, two-stroke engine manufactured by Derbi/Piaggio.

The Aprilia RX and SX 50 machines came as the revised successors of the Aprilia RX 50 manufactured in 1992. The bike's layout and panels were closely based on the larger displacement Aprilia RXV and SXV models.

In 2012, the Italian motorcycle maker launched the Aprilia SX 50, an entry-level small-displacement motorcycle that came in the same shape and form as the previous models without any significant changes.

In the visual department, the bike was fitted with standard features, such as a high-mounted front fender, a small cowl with a single headlight, a one-piece dual seat, a dual-sided swingarm, a high-mounted exhaust system, and wire-spoke wheels with black rims and road-tires.

Suspension-wise, the motorcycle packed a 40 mm telescopic fork on the front with 195 mm wheel travel and a hydraulic single shock absorber on the rear with 180 mm of travel, providing optimum suspension performance and handling.

The braking power was achieved by a 260 mm stainless steel disc engaged by a floating caliper and one 180 mm brake disc tied to a floating caliper on the rear, offering optimum stopping power.

In the performance department, the 2012 Aprilia SX 50 had its soul brought to life by a 49cc two-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine managed by a 17.5 mm Dell'Orto carburetor. The power was sent to the rear wheel through a six-speed transmission and a final chain drive.
