There are many ways to bring the Mazda MX-5 / Miata up to speed and one of the best comes from British specialist BBR. They’ve been production forced induction kits for the Japanese sports car for quite a while now and a new one has just arrived. We’re talking about a turbo package that takes the car to 270 PS (268 HP).
Dubbed GT270, the package sees the 2.0-liter engine being fitted with a Garett GT25 turbocharger. Of course, the exhaust manifold is also custom, while BBR added an intercooler, as well as a custom ECU map.

In fact, BBR offers special electronic features, such as launch control, full throttle shift and throttle blip on downchanges. In order to handle the extra toque, the MX-5 has been fitted with an Exedy clutch.

The overall figures see the 2.0-liter unit delivering 270 PS (268 HP) and a peak torque of 227 lb-ft (307 Nm). By the way, you can see the power anb torque curves in the gallery below. BBR’s Mazda MX-5 / Miata GT270 only needs 4.9s for the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h sprint), offering a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h). BBR also offers a few suspension upgrades for the Japanese model.

This kit will also turn your MX-5 into a sleeper, since the BBR Turbo badges and the custom tailpipes are the only clues for the tuning work.

Only 100 units of the car are set to be built, for a price of GBP29,995 (USD48,500 / EUR35,800) OTR.
