Gone With the Wind… Renault Says

Back at the beginning of August, we stumbled upon a statement from Renault UK, not France, that said we are going to have to get out "tissues at the ready as UK gears up for fond au revoir to the Twingo Renaultsport 133", probably due to slow sales.
Now, another Renault based on the Twingo platform could be getting the axe. Reporting from Frankfurt, Car&Driver says the Wind is also doomed, the problem being that it's just not selling.

The Wind was revealed in 2010 at the Paris Motor Show and is assembled by Renault Slovenia in Novo Mesto. The two-door has a very simple folding roof mechanism that simply flips the top off the passenger compartment.

The problem is Renault doesn't even sell it in every European country, let alone the whole world. The carmaker's partnership with Daimler's smart division will see a replacement for the Twingo that's based on a completely different platform, with the engine in the back.

It seems all the cards really are stacked against the Wind.
