Citroen’s DS, despite its historic name suggesting the iconic DS of the 1960s, has absolutely nothing to do with the old car, and it cannot be associated with it in any way. That is generally a bad thing for Citroen aficionados and a good thing for everybody else, with the DS3, DS4 and DS5 being stunningly designed pieces of modern art, if a bit non-French in their design.
Two of these pieces of modern art will be launched on the Chinese market at the end of June, on the 28th. The DS4 and DS5 will have a similar sale price to that of their European counterparts, with smaller of the two expected to cost upwards of 250,000yuan (€31,500/$39,500). The DS5 will have a Chinese similar starting price to the DS4, but it will rise to as much as 350,000yuan (€44,100/$55,250).
Sadly, one of the cars’ main assets (apart from the styling), the diesel engines, won’t be making it to China, with turbocharged and naturally-aspirated versions of PSA 1.6-liter petrol engine being the only options available. Until Chang’an-PSA get production going at their Chinese plant, all cars sold will be imported from Europe.
