Asian Premiere of the MINI Countryman at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show

The Auto China Beijing 2010, scheduled from April 25 to May 2, will host the Asian premiere of the MINI Countryman, the brand’s first four-door vehicle, as well as the continental premiere of the MINI Coupe Concept and the MINI Roadster Concept.

The Countryman is also MINI’s first vehicle whose length measures more than four meters (13.12 feet) and is available with an optional four-wheel drive system, called ALL4.

The crossover will be available in China with two petrol engines, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit capable of 122 horsepower and a 184-horsepower variant of the same unit. The first equips the MINI Cooper Countryman, while the second is destined for the sportier Cooper S Countryman. Both engines fulfill the EU5 emission standard, the C02 emissions levels reaching as low as 127 grams/kilometer for the Cooper and 136 grams/kilometer for the Cooper S.

As for the two concept cars that will be showcased in Beijing, both interpret the traditional values, individual style and innovative character of the MINI brand, each in its own way. The Coupe stands for pure driving fun, while the Roadster adds the open-air feeling to the equation.

Held every two years, the Auto China 2010 will reach its 11th edition this year. It will host more than 2,000 exhibitors from around the world and the number of visitors is expected to surpass the figure of 680,000 recorded in 2008, as the exhibition site at the New China International Center in Beijing has been extended. The MINI brand is also sending clear growth signals through its presence at Auto China 2010. A further extended model and product range creates the ideal conditions for continuing the MINI success story in China.
