Remember when we told you Alfa Romeo is planning to launch eight new models by 2018? Well, this master plan might involve a new Giulietta, but as usual, designers move a lot faster than Fiat-Chrysler Automobile.
We won't insist on the models FCA promised to deliver in the next three years. Instead, we'll focus on a rendering involving a potential next-gen Alfa Romeo Giulietta hatchback that looks up to its supermodel sister, the new Giulia.

Theophilus Chin is the one behind the photo manipulated picture that combines the daylight opening and rear design of the current Giulietta with Giulia's face glued in the front.

On a personal note, bringing in Giulia's expression is a good move, and we can only hope Alfa Romeo does the same trick (maybe with discrete adaptations) for the new Giulietta.

Speaking of which, don't expect the next generation Giulietta anytime soon. The hatchback received a facelift in 2013, and recently Alfa Romeo upgraded the diesel and petrol mills found under Giulietta's hood, which are now compliant with the latest Euro 6 regulations.

Moreover, engineers took their time to boost the 1.6 JTDM-2 turbo diesel banger, which saw an increase in power from 105 horsepower to 120 horsepower.

Also, the aggregate was fitted with variable-geometry turbocharger and the car now rides on low rolling-resistance tyres, making CO2 emissions drop from 104g/km to 99g/km.

After these tweaks, the engines allows a top speed of 121 mph (194.7 km/h), improved by six mph (9.6 km/h). Moreover, the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) dash is attainable in 10 seconds, 1.3 seconds faster than before.

For now, Alfa Romeo is playing the special edition card with the Giulietta, which we've seen in Collezione and Business Edition egos. We'll let you know when the test mules hit the road, but until that happens tell us what you think of the rendering. Does it offer a worthy look for the Giulietta?
