Most guys and girls who are into cars dream about one day being able to collect them as they would Hot Wheels. Let's be honest: it's fantastic to own an RX-7. But having an Evo, an M3, and several other vehicles in your garage would also be nice.
For most people, Social Media is a way to connect with others or just a distraction. But a select few have managed to turn it into a lifestyle. Adam LZ rose to prominence years ago with his BMX videos, and look at him now. Not only is he a Formula D competitor with RTR, but he also recently organized a World Tour. If you look past the exotic collection out there, his garage is as impressive as it gets. I've lost track of all his special projects, but I did notice him buying two FC RX-7s recently. But his latest endeavor might break the Internet. Ever since Gemballa revealed the Marsien, it felt like this automotive trend would take off.
Then, Porsche released the Dakar 911, and Lamborghini introduced the Sterrato. We've seen Safari projects before, and I vividly remember someone building an MX-5 with that in mind. But I'm pretty sure this is the first time someone has decided to use a Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R for something like this. Adam could have bought a regular R32 GTS-T and called it a GT-R.
But the shell he got from Connecticut seems to be the real deal. It was rotting away in someone's backyard, waiting for someone to save it. And now it could become one of the most incredible JDM builds for 2024. Reportedly, it only took the Florida man three weeks to finalize this thing with the help of his friends and team. A wicked test is coming, but more about that in a few days.
You can follow the project's progress via a three-episode mini-series on Adam's channel, which looks stunning from one end to another. He wanted a functional machine, not just a garage queen, by his chosen parts. Instead of the traditional 1,000+ horsepower setup, he opted for a Garrett GTX3576 Gen 2 turbo. It should be responsive enough for any situation, and there's a good chance he will drive it like he stole it.
Of course, the GT-R now features a set of BC Racing long travel coilovers, given its off-road ambitions. There's plenty of ground clearance to allow for any jumps, but I don't think Adam plans on intentionally braking the car like that other influencer did when everyone was mad at him. The color combo is appropriate for a Safari-ready vehicle, and I love the matching engine cover and how clean everything looks under the hood. But with a car like this, I can't wait to see it hard at work. And that may happen somewhere on a snowy slope.
