Whenever a brand like Winnebago hits the market with another on-road living machine, it typically pays to listen up. Well, this next one might be their greatest and most affordable travel trailer yet. Time to check out the M-Series and all it has to offer.
Folks, $27,860 (€25,500 at current exchange rates) is all the money you need to have in your account to head down to Winnebago and pick up your very own M-Series travel trailer; it's their freshest family-friendly machine, recently unveiled at the 2024 Florida RV SuperShow, going on now. Do I have your attention now? Time to explore what could be this year's most affordable camper.

Overall, two available floorplans have been announced for the new lineup, the 2326RK and 2225MK, both of which can comfortably accommodate up to four sleepy heads. With a sleeping bag or two on the floor, I'm sure we can bump that number up a bit.

Now, the idea behind the new lineup is to offer interested explorers the basics they need to go out there from the moment they sign the paperwork; just fill up the tanks. This means that the M-Series is light, coming in with a GVWR of just 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg), distributed on two axles. Overall, the lightest of the two, the 2225MK, has a dry weight of just 4,196 lbs (1,903 kg).

What does this mean for folks like you and me? It means that you won't need to start scrounging local ads for a new truck or upgrade the one you already own. Ok, fine; maybe a bit of attention to the suspension. Depending on how far you plan on taking your M-Series. Just stick to guidelines dictated by Winnebago, and you should be fine.

All that weight is partly made up by the NXG frame Winnebago has in place and by the 1.5-inch thick walls of the living space. On top, a one-piece TPO roof is added, and furthermore, it's fully walkable, so tend to your 200 W of standard solar panel power - add more if you need it - or maybe some morning Yoga up here. A fully enclosed and heated underbelly hints at possible adventures into the colder months.

What I found rather neat about the shell is just how clean-cut and simple it came out. There are storage options, including a pass-through bay, but not so many that you forget where you put the pump or tent. Best of all, Winnebago also managed to incorporate a slide-out into one of the options; the 2326RK has this feature.

For a moment, picture yourself outside of your future M-Series. Once you've stabilized your unit and unhooked your vehicle, you and the family will proceed to set up camp for the next few days. You might end up being assigned to the more serious tasks like firing up all systems and ensuring water flows and heaters create the perfect ambiance while the kids tinker with the tent and awnings. All the while, your significant other is filming the whole moment. A great way to kick off any of the year's seasons.

Once all the exterior goodies are in place and you've had your fill of the setting sun, why not head on inside for a nice warm meal prepared by your own hands in a fully stocked galley? Did you happen to see the residential-sized fridge? How about the deep-bowl sink and all the storage options everywhere? My favorite layout is the one seen in the 2326RK; it's an L-shaped plan, and it's just beautiful.

With the meal ready and bellies aching for some nutrients, you all take a seat at the dinette and discuss the evening plans. Someone mentioned stargazing and telling stories while you want S'mores. Why not spark up a fire and do both? But first, let's let the food digest on a jack-knife sofa that will later become a bed for some of the members in your group, whoever draws the short straw.

Now, I know it may not sound like a big deal and all, but I personally enjoyed the fact that the manufacturer took the time to add bathrooms with separate features inside. This means that your significant other can shower while you brush your teeth, all the while wearing a pair of socks.

The final interior space we need to explore is the bedroom, and again, depending on the layout you choose, differences are as plain as day. For example, the 2326RK includes a north-south bedding configuration, while the 2225MK has an east-west. I prefer the 2326 as it has a walk-around and his and hers storage.

For the rest of the evening, head back outside, spark up that fire we talked about, and make sure the snacks and drinks are ready to flow. The evening catches you teaching the kids all about constellations and why they call it a S'more - because we want "Some More!" - and it cost you less than $30K. I don't want to feed anyone's paranoia or anything like that, but Winnebago is listening!
