Wild Land's Safari Cruiser Is a Unique Two-Story Camping Solution for Outdoor Enthusiasts

It sits neatly on the truck's bed rails, and thanks to its double stacked scissor mechanism and remote-controlled pop-up system, it pitches in no time, rising and spreading its wings like no other pickup topper on the market.

Besides its easy setup and impressive base camp qualities, the Safari Cruiser stands out with its compact design when not deployed. While most pickup toppers out there extend up and over the truck roof, Wild Camp chose to stow everything into a small package that drops to cab height and width and has minimal impact on the truck's aerodynamics during travel. The camping solution measures 171 x 156 x 52 cm (67.3 x 61.4 x 20.5 inches) when packed down and tips the scales at 550 pounds (250 kg).

As mentioned, it secures to the truck bed's rails and packs plenty of interior space to comfortably accommodate two or three individuals. The double-scissor structure is stable and firm and can be actuated by means of a keychain remote.

Once everything is set up and the truck topper has been lifted, you will have a camper that extends on two levels. The pickup floor becomes the ground level of the camper and can be used as a lounge area offering 1.5 meters (59 inches) of inner height, while the upper rooftop tent acts as the sleeping space fitted with a mattress for two/three people. An integrated ladder inside the camper provides access from the lower level to the rooftop tent bed.

The ground floor of the Safari Cruiser is designed as a flex space that owners can use as they see fit. Since it seems to be open at the back, it would not be suitable for sleeping, but it would make a great al-fresco lounge area with some cushions and a center table. Moreover, the 360-degree awning included in the package further expands the living space to the outdoors. The wraparound awning system can also be configured as an annex tent.

For the upper tent floor, Wild Land offers front and rear fold-out extensions that give the tent a trapezoidal prism shape and create a generous 220 x 140 cm (87 x 55-inch) sleeping area. Were it not for these extensions, the second story would offer a length of just 171 cm (5.6 feet) since the section does not extend over the truck cab.

The most appealing fact about this two-story configuration is perhaps the open design that offers incredible panoramic views. The rooftop tent comes with a full-mesh front panel that seamlessly integrates into the structure, leaving the second story completely open on three sides. A skylight overhead is the proverbial cherry on top, allowing campers to stargaze at night and take in the surroundings from an even higher vantage point.

The company also installed a 30W solar panel on the roof that powers the LED lighting inside the camper and the lift system battery.

Since the loaded box sits above the bed when not in use, owners can still take advantage of the bed space for cargo storage. The Safari Cruiser even increases its height by 20 cm (7.9 inches), and it also boasts crossbars on top, on which you can mount bikes, kayaks, or other gear for outdoor adventures, as it can hold up to 66 pounds (30 kg).

For now, Wild Land has introduced the all-new Safari Cruiser camping solution only in the Chinese market but has plans to offer it in other markets as well in the near future. For the US market, the company estimates a base retail price of US $10,000.
