You might think truck campers are less equipped than camper vans. And in the majority of cases, that's true. But then you have premium builds, such as the Baja truck camper I'm discussing today, which might surpass your expectations regarding all the features it manages to fit both inside and outside.
Rossmonster is a Colorado-based company specializing in products that wow through clear attention to detail, purpose, and quality. I've covered two other Rossmonster vehicles on autoevolution, and I was impressed by the quality of their products.

The Baja Truck Camper is the company's latest creation. It can be built on any 3/4 ton and larger chassis, long or short bed. The unit we're checking out today is based on a Chevy Silverado 3500 HD with an 8-ft. (2.4-meter) bed. It's a custom build, but it still uses the company's suggested floor plan.

This vehicle is quite a beast, not only because of its sheer size but also because it sports a Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine outputting 470 hp and a whopping 975 lb-ft (1,322 Nm) of torque, paired with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. What's more, it rides on Method wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, ready to take you off the beaten path.

There are numerous exterior accessories on this rig. At the front, you'll notice a Fab Fours front bumper with a 12,000-lb. (5,443-kg) winch. On the sides, you'll find running boards and custom Rossmonster traction boards, which can also double as tables.

At the rear, you'll discover yet another custom Rossmonster accessory: a rear bumper. Other notable elements include Molle panels that hold a spare tire and two sizeable storage boxes. Moreover, there are security cameras covering every side of the camper.

One of the most distinctive features of the Baja Truck Camper is that its custom composite shell features an actuating roof, allowing you to extend and lower the roof whenever you want. This way, the vehicle can be more compact and streamlined while driving, but it can also be more spacious when camping. Moreover, lowering the roof will be useful when off-roading because there's a lower chance of hitting branches, and the center of mass will be closer to the ground.

A premium interior design is a priority for Rossmonster. In this unit, the company installed oak flooring and a pine tongue and groove ceiling that was stained walnut to match the walnut butcher block countertops. Furthermore, the white cabinetry pairs excellently with the rest of the aesthetic. The look is completed by a grey mix of Duramax upholstered wall panels and Crest Leather upholstered benches.

Like in the rest of Rossmonster's truck campers, you'll find a cab-over bed at the front, a wet bath toward the middle, followed by the kitchen (which is split into two parts), and a dinette area at the rear. It's a straightforward and spacious layout, prioritizing convenience.

Of course, because the bed sits above the driver's cabin, it's located relatively high up, so Rossmonster fitted a small custom ladder. The bedroom features a small ceiling fan, two cubbies, two windows, and two reading lights. What's more, you'll find a pass-through door right under the bed, which leads into the truck's cab.

Bathrooms are sometimes left out of truck campers because there isn't enough space to fit them. However, because the Baja Truck Camper is so big, its builders had plenty of space to build a decently sized wet bathroom. It comprises brushed aluminum walls, a stainless steel shower pan with a teak mat, a composting toilet, and a shower.

Next, we have the kitchen. On the driver's side, you'll discover a counter integrating a decently sized sink with a lift-up faucet and two spacious cabinets. On the opposite side, Rossmonster installed a countertop with a 20-inch (51-centimeter) flip-up extension, a dual-burner induction stove, an Isotherm fridge, and some additional storage spots.

The dinette consists of a U-shaped bench with a walnut swivel table in the middle. It can be turned into a secondary bed to accommodate additional guests by lowering the table and rearranging the cushions.

The benches here house the plumbing and electrical systems. The plumbing system comprises a 30-gallon (114-liter) freshwater tank and an Aqua Hot hydronic heat and hot water system. The powerhouse of this camper boasts 600 Ah of lithium iron phosphate batteries, a 3,000 W inverter, and other components connected to 600 W solar panels on the roof. Another notable utility feature is a Dometic RTX 2000 A/C unit.

Regarding storage, you'll notice seven massive cabinets above the dinette area, following the same arrangement as the U-shaped couch.

What I really like about this truck camper is that you get a lot of natural light shining inside. There are a total of seven half-slide windows around the rig, which also help ventilate the rooms. Moreover, Rossmonster also equipped the rig with two awning-style windows that are complete with bug screens and black-out shades.

You'll have to dish out quite a large sum to get your hands on a Rossmonster truck camper. Although pricing will vary depending on the fits, finishes, and features you choose, the company's truck camper builds range from $200,000 to $300,000 (€182,912 to €274,368), including the base vehicle.

All in all, the Baja Truck Camper is an excellent mobile home, especially if you're the kind of adventurer who wants to go deep into the wilderness and off the beaten path. However, you'd also need to be willing to spend a small fortune to satisfy your adventuring needs.
