At the end of November, the year 2023 suddenly became even more important than it already was for the automobile industry. Tesla, the poster child of EVs, had just delivered the first units of the magnificently controversial Cybertruck full-size electric pickup truck.
It will be a while before the 2+ million reservations convert into sales, but at least you know the prices and can easily configure the preferred choice: RWD for $61k, AWD for $80k, and the flagship Cyberbeast for $99,990. However, for the first one, you have to wait at least until 2025, while the other two are expected to start next year from Giga, Texas.
A few lucky folks, though, will be rewarded with a Cybertruck AWD or Cyberbeast later this month if they order and pay some $20k more for the fully tricked-out Foundation Series. There's only one problem – whatever you choose, there's just one color choice. The silver you see comes from stainless steel, and the only way to hide it is through OEM or aftermarket wraps.
If the Tesla options seem costly – the official color paint film is $6,500 – you can always depend on the aftermarket realm to fulfill all fantasies. But what if your favorite color – reportedly the most popular hue is still white – doesn't look good on the Cybertruck? Don't you want to know in advance? No worries, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is here to save us, as per tradition.
Sugar Chow, the virtual artist better known as sugardesign_1 on social media, has decided to dupe innocent bystanders into thinking this Tesla Cybertruck is heading to China dressed in fashionable Polar White. It even has some of the capabilities on display if you want to know them at a glance. But maybe that's not enough?
Again, no worries; the artist and 3D animator behind the crxw._ account on social media shows us the Tesla Cybertruck completely aired out and looking like a slammed spaceship for the road. If you ask me, when the EV pickup truck is dressed to impress the street crowds, it certainly looks like it could be the next star in a major Hollywood blockbuster with the action placed in the near future. Or, it could also serve as a partner for the bounty hunter in a reimagined Blade Runner…
Anyway, irrespective of your choice of cyberpunk style, the Tesla Cybertruck remains a veritable showcase of human stubbornness – it may end up a flop like the DeLorean DMC-12 because of various or a big success due to its many qualities, but we can all be pretty sure that we're witnessing automotive history in the making and this EV will at least have a cult following for decades to come.
