The subcompact crossover SUVs are starting to look cooler by the day – just look at the Opel Mokka, Jeep Avenger, MINI Countryman, or the recently introduced third-generation Dacia Duster.
Produced by Romanian automaker Dacia, the little Duster is not usually associated with the Mokka, Avenger, or Countryman because these are generally ritzier and much more expensive. However, the transformation of the Renault subsidiary is quite visible – it's not a swan just yet, but also no one can call it an ugly duckling, either. And, of course, one of the major arguments for that is the all-new Duster subcompact SUV.
Treated to one of the coolest designs in the sector, this clearly is no crossover but a fully-fledged and adventurous SUV. And although it's supposed to come under €20k in some markets, it's also a stark departure even from the latest upgrade of its predecessor. As such, it is no wonder that even the imaginative realm of digital car content creators has taken an interest in its 'persona,' right?
Many pixel masters rushed to give it new body styles – it has morphed into a subcompact pickup truck, into a 3-Door SUV, and even a 2-Door Cabrio SUV. But nothing beats a simple mod – no, not a new set of aftermarket wheels (although that's been done, too). Instead, Kleber Silva, a Brazil-based virtual artist known as KDesign AG on social media, has decided to have a CGI go at imagining the upcoming Renault Duster.
In some markets, Dacia doesn't exist, but Renault entirely takes advantage of its no-frills approach to designing and building vehicles that get you from point A to B, all without costing an arm and a leg doing so. As such, it is no wonder that the pixel master wants to envision the potential Renault Duster for Latin America. However, there's a big CGI catch.
Just like many of his peers, the author resolved to change some of the fundamentals and make the Renault Duster version quite different from the Dacia original. The Duster has become a premium-like five-door crossover-Coupe SUV on this particular CGI occasion, probably inspired by the OEM styling decision to hide the rear door handles.
Well, it's not a bad idea because the fresh styling is now a lot more adventurous than before – and that is probably why designers have had a blast morphing the Duster into all sorts of different body styles. But do remember to take all these renderings with a grain of salt, as most of them are probably nothing but wishful thinking. Nothing is official from Renault just yet, but we suspect it won't take long before the French automaker presents their version of the Duster for some of its main regions outside of Europe. Then, we'll see if the changes are subtle or extensive.
