The Japanese automaker is having a blast this year – one that triggered a tidal wave of upgrades, refreshes, new models, and limited editions. But the novelties won't stop coming – including outside the real world.
We are all in a festive mood this month, and Toyota has already prepared its special holiday season ads for North America – where it has been increasingly busy throughout the year. Since the beginning of 2023, we have seen lots of updates, redesigns, and a bundle of superstars like the 2024 Grand Highlander three-row crossover SUV, the N400 Tacoma mid-size pickup truck, the return of the 2024 Land Cruiser, plus the 2025 Camry mid-size sedan best-seller along with the first-ever 2025 Crown Signia crossover SUV.

And that's a small measure of the long list of novelties, actually. Of course, some people would consider this a tremendous achievement and give the Japanese carmaker a much-deserved rest for the duration of the holidays. Well, that might be true in the real world, but the imaginative realm of digital car content creators never sleeps or rests. As such, these pixel masters are always on the hunt for the next big Toyota scoop.

Some think the next in line will be a compact unibody pickup truck designed to fight Ford's Maverick, others believe it will be a compact SUV with the Land Cruiser platform that will act as the spiritual successor for the FJ Cruiser, and a few only have eyes for the next-generation 4Runner SUV. However, the good folks over at the Q Cars channel on YouTube aim to daze and amaze the audience with a potential styling of their vision for the MR2 revival!

That's right – the quirky little mid-engine sports car is reportedly coming back, according to the rumor mill, most likely as a potential new member of the GR roster. Alas, don't bet on this to be it – instead, the channel's CGI expert went berserk and portrayed the MR2 as a new kind of fastback sedan that could easily go toe-to-toe with the Tesla Model 3 if it were an all-electric model. But it's not – and the host even dares to assume there's still space to fit it with a mid-engine solution!

Clearly, something wasn't right that day in their studio – an MR2 with four doors, fastback styling, and a mid-engine setup is a technical impossibility even across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI! Anyway, there's still a lingering question – do you like this idea, or should we give it the digital thumbs down?

Anyway, if real, the proposed MR2 revival is reportedly coming with an internal combustion engine – and will keep the same recipe as before, with the engine placed behind the two seats. The only real mystery is about pricing – will Toyota dare to go below the GR86 threshold, or is the reborn MR2 destined for a flagship status like the GR Supra?
