Since 2012, Toyota came back to endurance racing, with a new hybrid technology, specially created to go after and take down the Audi e-trons that won 12 out of 14 races since 2000.
While last year Toyota was struck by bad luck, one of their racecars hitting another one and crashing while the other had to retire due to engine problems, this year, the team made it to podium on second place and almost third too, if it wasn’t for the rain shower in the last hour which caught #7 on slicks and sent it into the tire wall.
There are still six more endurance races to go this season, the next one being the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo scheduled for the 1st of September, where Toyota Racing will go against Audi Sport Tram Joest, Rebellion Racing and Strakka Racing in the LMP1 category.
