VW Sponsors Interior Motives Design Award

The 2010 edition of the Interior Motives Design Award competition, an event which will be held in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, will be sponsored, for the eight time in a row, by German manufacturer Volkswagen.

The event has been set up as a means to identify the best international students of design and architecture. The competition has four categories (including Best Innovation and Best Use of Technology) and is open to students worldwide who in the past academic year have either finished their degree or were enrolled in the design faculty at a university of applied sciences or regular university.

“Volkswagen has been the sponsor of the Interior Motives Design Award since 2003. I consider it essential to promote young talent, listen to their ideas and integrate them into current and future company projects. We are always on the hunt for trends,” Wolfsgang Müller-Pietralla, head of Future and Trend Research for Volkswagen said in a statement.

As a sponsor for the event, Volkswagen was offered the chance to be the patron of one of the categories. Students participating in this category were asked to built on the “Pump up the Volume” motto and come up with a new interpretation of “volume" when designing and imagining a car's interior.

The finalist of the competition will be announced in the beginning of September. The winner will be made public on 1st October 2010 in Paris. He or she will receive a trophy as well as a EUR5,000 prize. Of course, winning the competition might also open some doors for the student who comes up with the best idea.
