Roughly two months after the official unveiling, the facelifted Volkswagen Touareg is now on sale in the UK. The automaker has announced the pricing across the board, revealing that it's available in five different configurations that are topped by the punchiest variant, which adds the R suffix.
The lineup kicks off from £68,810 (equal to $89,100), including tax, for the Elegance. This version features 20-inch wheels in dark graphite, Vienna leather upholstery, heated front seats, four-zone climate control, a 15-inch infotainment system, a tilt and sliding panoramic sunroof joined by a rear panoramic roof, IQ.Light HD matrix headlights and the Comfort and Connectivity packages.
Sitting in the middle of the range is the Black Edition. A quick look on the brand's local website reveals that it's offered with black 21-inch alloys, different bumpers with an R-Line style, ergoComfort front seats, rear tinted windows, Lights and Vision pack for memory seats, Black Edition pack, Park Assist Pro, and tinted rear windows. Depending on the chosen powertrain, the Touareg Black Edition starts at £67,640 ($87,575), £70,320 ($91,055), or £72,070 ($93,325).
Topping off the family is the Touareg R eHybrid. This model comes with sportier exterior looks, leather upholstery, contrast stitching, and all the equipment available for the brand's flagship crossover with a premium flair. Pricing kicks off at £80,370 ($104,070), and a six-pot with electric assistance powers it. The total system output is 455 hp (462 ps/340 kW), and it enjoys a combined 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. VW says it tops out at 155 mph (250 kph), and the 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) takes 5.1 seconds.
Speaking of the powertrains, we have to tell you that the entry-level Elegance is offered strictly with the 3.0 TSI eHybrid. The plug-in hybrid model boasts a total of 376 hp (381 ps/280 kW). The mid-range Black Edition offers the vastest offering power-wise. The most humble model comes with a 3.0-liter TDI diesel engine making 228 hp (231 ps/170 kW), and for the mid-spec, you're also looking at a diesel six-banger, albeit with a bit more power rated at 282 hp (286 ps/210 kW). The most expensive Touareg Black Edition utilizes the 3.0 TSI gasoline unit, which kicks out 335 hp (340 ps/250 kW).
Visually, the 2023 Volkswagen Touareg stands out due to the new face with different headlamps and grille and the rear end that features a full-width LED light bar and a back-lit corporate logo. It also sports a new roof load sensor for safer driving, a digital instrument cluster, the Discover Pro Max infotainment, improved voice control, better USB-C charging ports, remote-controlled Park Assist Plus, Travel Assist, Trailer Assist, and Night Assist. In its home market of Germany, the facelifted Touareg starts at €69,200 ($77,530), and the R eHybrid can be ordered from €93,870 ($105,170).
