This his how a press release from Volvo published in 1962 starts: "A new Volvo Estate car. An exclusive estate car, designed for European conditions enters the Swedish market. It will be shown for the first time at the Stockholm Motor Show. It is Volvo's much longed for Amazon estate.”
Now, the Amazon Estate is celebrating its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, six jubilee cars in various forms will be on show at world's largest indoor show for classic vehicles - TechnoClassica. These are as follows:
  • 1964 two-owner car with 80,000 genuine kilometers
  • 1967 car that has been running on electricity for 20 years
  • (1967 car that has been modified to 600 hp and named "Sweden's hottest Volvo"
  • (1968 car in bright red that has been a fire chief's vehicle,
  • 1969 police car, equipped with every piece of original equipment
  • (1969 car, the last Amazon estate made, from October 1969
We even have a video of the 600 horsepower car trashing a Ferrari 458 Italia if you’re in the mood for something naughty.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
