Yamaha T-Max Scooter WGP Replica Unveiled

A few days ago, Yamaha took the wraps off the special livery for the M1 racers to be fielded by Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies and Laguna Seca. The anniversary paint scheme celebrates 50 years of GP racing, and will also appear on all Yamaha staff and team crew, as well as the Yamaha Factory Racing team’s pit box.

However, part of the company celebrations - a limited edition Yamaha 500cc WGP replica - has also been prepared for launch. We are talking here about a T-Max scooter that will unfortunately only be available in Yamaha’s home market starting July.

Though it is said to be a limited edition, the exact number of units the Japanese will have at their disposal has not been yet disclosed, nor the price tag. In addition, XP500 T-Max WGP 50th Anniversary Edition buyers will also get a set of sponsors’ stickers that replicate those of the M1 race bike, which they will have to apply for themselves.

The unique red and white livery design pays homage to the iconic Yamaha Factory Racing liveries of the past with a modern twist. “I believe that the newly designed Red and White livery not only recollects our brilliant memories in the past but also makes us feel the power to create new history,” said Shigeto Kitagawa, President of Yamaha Motor Racing.

“I love these colours,”
said Jorge Lorenzo about the anniversary livery, “they really have a historic significance. Read, Agostini, they all ran similar colour schemes when they won so the opportunity to use it on the YZR-M1 is really nice. It’s a very special year for Yamaha and we hope that these colours will give us luck in these two races.”
