After VW’s marketing teams tried to get our attention focused on the new Golf Cabriolet with the aid of a sexy Kylie Minogue and a basket of strawberries, a second commercial for the rag-top has just popped up.
This time Das Auto aims to prove that the best fun is to be had in a car with no roof over your head. The new commercial properly explains the appeal of a car in a way that no celebrity ever could, using nothing but children’s toys. Children with smiles on their face show just how fun it is to feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your face.
The new model is based on the sixth generation of the Golf and will be sold alongside the firm's Eos hardtop roadster. It replaces the solid roof with an electrically operated cloth top, also sporting a redesigned rear and a more swept-back front windscreen frame. VW boldly claims that it can opened fully automatically in just 9.0 seconds, bringing the summer in or keeping the winter out in the process.
“Volkswagen is continuing a great tradition with the Golf Cabriolet. On the past 3 models – produced between 1979 and 2002 – over 680,000 drivers chose the cabriolet version. For a time, it was the world’s most successful cabriolet. The new Golf Cabriolet has the potential to continue this history,” Volkswagen brags.
