Two Volkswagen Golf R Color Concepts Arrive in Worthersee

The Volkswagen Group seems almost unstoppable when it comes to producing an army of concept vehicles to impress fans arriving in the tens of thousands at a time at this year’s GTI Meat in Austria. In addition to that mightily impressive Golf R Cabriolet design study that provides all the thrills of a 270 horsepower four-wheel drive Golf plus the 250 km/h wind in your hair, Das Auto also brought along two color concepts to show what can come out of their customizing might.

Let’s get stuck in with the first example, which sports a mid-tone “Velvet Grey Metallic” exterior finish with polished 19-inch “Talladega” alloy wheels, orange painted brake callipers and carbon mirror caps.

Inside, Volkswagen has fitted ergonomic motorsport shell seats. Their outer segments are upholstered in black Nappa leather The cross-stitched centre panels of the seat and seatback gets an lighter Nappa leather (“Pure Grey”) while the outer edges sport a lighter hue. The back shell glistens in black piano paint. Meanwhile, interior accents match the look of the carbon mirror caps. The same material is also used for the steering wheel, gear shift lever and the door sill plates.

The second Golf R color concept is even more striking, but in a factory-tuned kind of way, sporting “Aplomb Blue” paintwork and 19-inch “Glendale” wheels that are new to the Golf range.

Once again, the exterior mirror caps, various interior accents and the door sill plates are made of carbon, and the theme is carried to the inside as well - parts of the back shells of the motorsport shell seats also feature carbon. The steering wheel inner segments and even the floor mats have a carbon look to them.

In case you were wondering, both are still powered by the stock 270 horsepower 2.0-liter TSI engine that sends its grunt to all four wheels.
