Volkswagen's UK division has started accepting orders for the ID.7. The electric sedan (technically, it is a liftback) is now available for order in a single specification called the Pro Launch Edition.
According to the German automaker, the vehicle features the highest-torque electric drive motor ever fitted in a Volkswagen ID. car so far. It has 286 ps (282 hp/210 kW) available on tap and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque and features a 77 kWh battery pack that supports fast charging at up to 175 kW, enabling a total driving range of 384 miles (618 km).
Pricing for the Volkswagen ID.7 Pro Launch Edition starts at £55,570 ($68,224) on the road. The car comes fitted with 19-inch Hudson alloys wrapped in 235/50 tires, electrically adjustable side mirrors with heating, illuminated door handles, LED headlights and taillights, and heated windscreen washer jets.
Inside, it features a heated steering wheel wrapped in leatherette and power-adjustable front seats with a memory setting that can be optionally upgraded with the ergoActive seats, which feature clever massaging and ventilation. A smart air conditioning system is also on deck, alongside the 15-inch infotainment system, digital radio, voice commands, a wireless charging pad, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, auxiliary heater, ambient lighting, keyless access, and head-up display with augmented reality.
Drivers will also find the plethora of safety systems included useful, like the lane assist, traffic jam assist, emergency assist, lane change assist, side assist, rear traffic alert, exit warning, park assist plus, adaptive cruise control, dynamic road sign display, and others. It also features a travel assist and automatic parking with a memory function. Customers will have to pay more for the Exterior and Interior packs, energy-efficient heat pump, panoramic sunroof that can be switched between transparent and opaque using the touch controls, tow bar, etc, as these are all options.
Should you place an order for the Volkswagen ID.7 Pro Launch Edition starting today (November 7, 2023) until January 2, 2024, you will also get a free Ohme wall charger. If that doesn't sound appealing, then you can choose the £750 ($920) charging credit valid for up to three years instead from We Charge by Elli, a charging network owned by the Volkswagen Group. Shoppers will also have to decide if the 7 kW Ohme Home Pro charger with a five-meter (275-in) tethered cable is the one they want or if they're better off with the 7 kW ePod charger that's untethered.
As we already told you, the VW ID.7 is currently up for grabs in the United Kingdom. Additional versions will join the Pro Launch Edition, including a larger battery variant that's due in 2024. That is also when Volkswagen will launch the ID.7 in the United States, where the pricing and specifications will be announced in due course.
