German manufacturer Volkswagen is on the roll this month. Following the release of the Scirocco GT TDI, the Scirocco R and the concepts Golf GTI and Polo Worthersee 09, the company announced today it will begin accepting orders for the Golf 6 Estate no later than this Friday.
The Estate version will use the same engines used on the Golf 3- and 5-door. This means customers may choose from six power units: one 90 hp TSI engine, two common rail turbo-diesels (105 hp and 140 hp) and later in the year two Multipoint engines (80 hp and 102 hp) and a new TSI gasoline engine, developing 160 horsepower.
All of the four gasoline and two diesel engines meet the Euro 5 standard. Fuel consumption rates stand between 4.5l/100 km (1.6l TDI) and 6.4l/100 km (160 hp TSI). CO2 emissions range in between 132 g/km and 143 g/km.
Visually, the Estate got Golf 6 bumper, radiator grille and engine hood. At the rear, the independent design of the previous model has been upgraded with modified taillights and bumpers fully-painted in car color in the lower area.
The Golf 6 Estate comes equipped, as standard, with ESP, six airbags, daytime running lights, roof railing, power windows all around, upshift indicator, power and heated outside mirrors, 1/3 to 2/3 split folding rear bench seat and seat-back, central locking with RF remote control and climate control.
Boasting a cargo capacity of 1,495 liters, the Estate comes in three equipment versions: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. The latter replaces the previous Sportline version as the top equipment line.
Even if the actual car won't be here until September (in Germany), the new Estate can be ordered starting tomorrow. The base price for the car is 18,500 euro.
