Polo Worthersee 09 on Display in Austria

Volkswagen is displaying at Worthersee, Austria a new project based on the newly-launched Polo that comes with numerous yet impressive additions over the base model. Codenamed Worthersee 09, the car is powered by a 1.4-liter MPI powerplant that develops 86 horsepower (63 kW). It is painted in a special color - Flash Red - with two black rally stripes over the front, the roof and rear.

Speaking of exterior styling, the car boasts a lot of improvements, such as the 18-inch alloy wheels in the so-called "Budapest" styling with polished spokes. The radiator grille screen, mirror caps, backdrop of the headlights and insert in the lower bumper known as the "buckle" are all covered in black, offering a sporty and aggressive stance on the road.

Interiors have been customized as well, with premium black as the main color. The first things you'll notice though are the steering wheel accents and radio panel, as well as the front seats made of black nappa leather with horizontal black stripes in the microfiber "San Remo". Since it comes in red color, the manufacturer continued this custom feature in the interior too so the parking brake handle, the gearshift grip, the steering wheel and the door trim all boast red seams.

This is the second model belonging to Volkswagen that comes under the Worthersee nameplate, after the special version Golf GTI we told you about earlier today. Powered by a 2.0l TSI engine which develops 210 horsepower, the GTI achieves a top speed of 238 km/hour (148 mph) and reaches 100 km/hour in 6.9 seconds. On the interior, the Golf GTI Worthersee 09 comes with high-end aluminum tread plates with "GTI Wörthersee 09" signature, trim in brushed aluminum and glossy black painted frames around the air vents and bordered floor mats.
