Hopefully, there won't be too many memes about the ID. Buzz turning into Volkswagen's latest bully - it's too cute for all that, right? Anyway, as promised in a teaser last week, Volkswagen premiered the new GTX version at the annual media conference.
The German is having a GTX lifestyle in March 2024 because we just met the ID.3 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer, with the former in two states of tune (282 hp and 322 hp for GTX Performance) and the latter integrating the ChatGPT artificial intelligence bot along with a 335-hp powertrain. Now, there's also a Volkswagen ID. Buzz GTX is set to arrive with 100 kW more power than Europe's standard tune – 250 kW or 340 ps/335 hp.

So, following the launch of the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX in 2021 and the initial details regarding the ID.3 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer, there's also a sporty electric minivan on the horizon - ID. Buzz GTX. The potent MPV is coming to America, too, only with the long wheelbase and, in its most powerful incarnation, has 330 horsepower but without the GTX badge. As such, some fans might be disappointed by the subtle increase to 335 hp.

But remember, this is a minivan that we are talking about – 335 hp are sometimes out of reach for proper sports cars. This van for families that are always impatient will be offered with two wheelbases – short and long, plus two battery packs – 79 kWh (normal) and 86 kWh (LWB). The pair of motors also enable AWD and will help the ID. Buzz GTX sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in just 6.5 seconds.

However, the VW ID. Buzz will retain its inherent practicality – it's available with five-, six-, or seven-seat configurations, standard 4Motion AWD, and a recharging capacity from 185 kW at DC stations. The 79-kWh batter will have a 10 to 80% SoC recharge as fast as 26 minutes, while the bigger battery pack can top out at 200 kW for the same time at the charging station.

Also, now the ID. Buzz GTX has a higher maximum trailer weight – the standard model can pull up to 1,800 kg (braked, 8 percent gradient, 3,968 pounds), while the LWB has a slightly reduced max tow rating of 1,600 kg (3,527 pounds). Styling-wise, there's an assortment of GTX-related tweaks both inside and outside, including 21-inch alloy wheels, a Cherry Red paintjob, dark accents, sports seats, and a "major hardware and software update for the product line."

More precisely, the new GTX models will arrive with a larger 12.9-inch system touchscreen (instead of a 12-inch), a next-generation infotainment system, an optional HUD, an illuminated touch bar for temperature and volume control, a new IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration (AI), and a fresh Wellness app, among others.
