Visteon to Build New Renault Scenic Center Consoles

Visteon Corporation will manufacture the center console for both the new Renault Scenic and Grand Scenic minivans, the company announced yesterday. Visteon has already supplied center consoles for the previous-generation Scenic and Grand Scenic but this time, the company claims the parts are more advanced and provide enhanced ergonomics.

For example, the console can be moved forward or backward while the adjacent armrest can be moved separately as well. Specifically, the console has two storage compartments, a larger one that provides enough room for a 1.5-liter bottle and a smaller one for holding your keys or CDs.

Visteon will manufacture the consoles a the Gondecourt, northern France production facility.

The new Renault Grand Scenic went on sale in April and is offered with a choice of two body styles, five- and seven-seat configurations. There are five petrol engines and six diesel units available, each of them specifically designed for reduced fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

Other available features include cruise control with speed limiter, tire pressure monitoring system, bi-xenon headlamps with cornering lights, seatbelt reminder for front seats and automatic headlamp and windscreen wiper activation.

"New Grand Scenic builds on the strengths that forged the success of the first two generations of Scenic to deliver even more cabin space and greater comfort for its occupants, as well as saloon car-standard handling. It also benefits from the experience of Renault’s Douai plant in the production of compact MPVs, since the French site is the long-standing factory for Scenic," Renault said in a statement for the press earlier this year.
