The American mid-size pickup truck landscape is going to be one of the freshest around when Toyota unleashes the all-new N400 fourth-gen Tacoma into showrooms in December, and Ford drops the Ranger plus Raptor.
After the first six months of the year, Toyota still reigned supreme with the best-selling Tacoma even though everyone and their mother knew the Japanese automaker was bringing out a completely redesigned model later in the same year. It was followed by the Nissan Frontier, a model that was finally adapted for the North American market and quickly showed its mettle.

Third, came the Chevrolet Colorado at a marginal distance from the second place. They were followed by Honda's Ridgeline, the Jeep Gladiator, the Ford Ranger, and the GMC Canyon. General Motors, of course, hopes the performance of both its trucks will be even better when people notice all the benefits of the all-new third-generation models. But what if that is not enough?

After all, Nissan just introduced a retro-flavored Hardbody Edition for the 2024 Frontier, Jeep just updated the 2024 Gladiator with the mid-cycle facelift goodies, Ford is about to send the all-new Ranger plus Ranger Raptor into nationwide dealerships, and Toyota will finally unleash the N400 Tacoma when production starts in December. Well, no worries, as the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is always eager to help anyone out of all conundrums.

On this occasion, Jim, the virtual artist known as jlord8 on social media, is still meddling with all things Chevrolet from the 1980s and 1990s and is now thinking about adding a modern truck twist. So, in the recent past, he was all about rebadged C8 Corvettes transformed into revived Buick Skylarks or Cadillac XLRs plus Pontiac Solstice GXPs, for example.

Now, though, he switched his attention from Turbo Camaros and 454 SS Impalas to the contemporary Chevrolet Colorado. However, this pixel master is always keen on reminding people of the good old days, so he reinvented the Chevrolet S-10's Xtreme trim package into modern Colorado 'XTREME' attire. With that, we are looking at a potential 2024 model year featuring a lowered atmosphere, various aerodynamic enhancements designed to make it feel and look wider, and an aggressive front fascia.

So, would you like to see something like this – with all-black trim, matching dark alloy wheels, and a bulging hood, ready to fight the likes of Ford's Ranger Raptor? Interestingly, if GM actually allowed something like this to arrive in the real world, a Colorado Xtreme might carve its own niche that harks back to Chevy 454SS times – as opposed to its rivals (Raptor, TRD Pro) going for the dune-bashing, rock-crawling lifestyle. Of course, one question lingers – what should Chevy fit under the hood of such a sporty Colorado?
