If we follow the timeline, Toyota's potential decision to build a compact version of the Land Cruiser might be pretty logical. Even if it wasn't, we really want the rugged yet stylish and nimble SUV to happen, anyway.
Back in 2021, Toyota presented the Compact Cruiser EV as a downsized electric version of the retro-flavored FJ Cruiser as part of its galore of battery-powered concepts that should have made it the coolest OEM on the EV block in just one swift blow. Of course, we are still waiting for them to materialize…

Moving on, the FJ Cruiser – which has been absent from the American car market since 2014 but only ended production in December last year in Japan, has been left without a proper successor. Sure, many could say the old-school 4Runner aptly carries the torch forward, especially after it was lovingly updated for the 2024 model year.

Then, right alongside the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser (known as Land Cruiser Prado or 250 in specific markets) introduction, there was also a little trademark application for a 'Land Hopper' model, which immediately fueled speculation from the rumor mill that the Japanese automaker is thinking of establishing a veritable family dynasty with the J250 and J300-series Land Cruisers.

Additionally, the automaker also showed a rugged SUV silhouette during the 2024 Land Cruiser presentation alongside an electric SUV derivative. As such, it is no wonder that the imaginative realm of digital car content creators has gone above and beyond the call of CGI duty trying to envision the potential looks of the 'baby' Land Cruiser or 'Land Hopper.'

The good folks over at the Q Cars channel on YouTube have joined the Toyota party and now aim to daze and amaze the audience with the potential styling of their vision for the rumored Land Cruiser Hopper. Just like all other unofficial design projects, this version also keeps in line with the round LED headlight theme of both the FJ Cruiser and 2024 Land Cruiser '1958' or 'First Edition.'

However, the channel's resident pixel master, probably aided by AI design software tools, takes some liberties – there's a second version with the profile featuring a louvered third window, and the third option features a rear end with a full-width LED light strip acting as taillights. That's a nice change from just shrinking down the 2024 Land Cruiser down to compact levels, frankly – and it's also needed to aid with individuality to make sure there's no cannibalization across the board.

As for powertrains, the host discusses various options, including gasoline options from the Corolla Cross, diesel variants from the global Hilux pickup truck, and the hybrid powertrain used in the best-selling RAV4 Hybrid. There's even talk of a potential fully electric version – though that may not happen too soon because the TNGA-F body-on-frame architecture needs extensive modifications to accept battery power.
