Through snow, sleet, mud, gravel, and decades of school runs with the kids, it feels like nothing can stop the Toyota 4Runner from being a force on and off the road in North America. For 2024, Toyota knew to stick to a formula they knew would bring success. It's not like they needed to change all that much, after all. But what is new about the 2024 Toyota 4Runner is a collection of little things that all come together to create a package that excites on all fronts.
Of course, the off-road-optimized 4Runner TRD is often cited as the crown jewel of enthusiast-oriented Toyota SUVs. For this year, the 4Runner TRD has all the same off-road goodies and rock-solid reliability as previous 4Runners, all with a wicked "Terra" paint color option on offer with subtle dark red and earthy undertones that could almost make the truck blend in like a boulder into the surrounding environment depending on which trail you were riding. Another new color, "Underground," also makes its debut across the 4Runner range this model year.

Across a range of trim packages, including the entry-level SR5 SR5 Premium, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro, there's bound to be a 4Runner package available in 2024 that caters to every family's needs. From the superhero mom who needs to ferry their own children, plus the neighbor's kids, to school every day to the thrill-seeking father taking their family on an off-road adventure they won't soon forget, the 2024 4Runner line serves all kinds.

New for the 2024 model year is the TRD Sport package. While the two other Toyota Racing Development-tuned 4Runner trim packages, the TRD Pro and TRD Off-Road, focus on a more dedicated off-road enthusiast crowd, the TRD Sport is bespoke and optimized for a superb on-road experience. With a special dedication to performance on the tarmac via its novel Cross-Linked Relative Absorber System (X-REAS) suspension, the 4Runner line is now more adaptable to the specific needs of every medium-sized North American family than ever before.

When each trim package is paired with a 270 horsepower, four-liter V6 engine jetting 278 lb-ft of torque and a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs, we don't foresee most families even coming close to touching the upper limits of the 4Runner's capabilities. Add on Toyota's Safety Sense P (TSS-P) driver assistance and safety suite with pre-collision detection, lane departure warnings, automatic high means, and radar-guided cruise control, among other goodies, and we have one of the easiest mid-size SUVs to drive on the market anywhere in the world.

Add a 36-month/36,000-mile basic new vehicle warranty, a 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, and a 10-year, 150,000-mile warranty for batteries on models equipped with hybrid setups, and you have one of the tastiest deals in the entire new SUV segment.
