Hennessey Performance wants to know if the 'Last Call' 2023 Dodge Charger SRT King Daytona is highly anticipated. And then, it also wants to know if the H1000 upgrade kit fits the persona. Yes, and double yes!
The Dodge Challenger and Charger in ICE-powered form are no more. Long live the muscle car kings of the Mopar world. That's because the Stellantis division stopped taking customer orders put through dealers at the end of July – and an incredible chapter of automotive history wrapped up just like that.

Sure, that doesn't mean there are no more 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger models with V8 engines in tow – the company will only cease production toward the end of the year. Meanwhile, those lucky folks who both had the cash to order these marvelous machines and love to stand out in any crowd had the chance to secure one of seven 'Last Call' special editions – while a select few (40 of them, allegedly) were secretly called by Dodge to check out on the Demon 170 Jailbreak.

As far as the seven Last Call limited series are concerned, Dodge did right by them – and not only sold them across the North American region, but some of them even crossed the great pond (aka the Atlantic Ocean) to reach their Old Continent fans. But how do you make a rare model stand out in a crowd even more?

Well, you could try to snatch the one with the highest level of Dodge-ness among the Challenger and Charger 'Swinger,' Challenger 'Shakedown,' Charger 'Super Bee,' Charger 'King Daytona,' Challenger 'Black Ghost,' and the mighty Challenger SRT Demon 170. Or you could have any of them – and then ask a world-renowned tuner to fiddle with it and secretly make it a sleeper superhero.

That is precisely what happened with a customer who ordered the Go Mango exclusively-shaded 2023 Dodge Charger SRT King Daytona and then send it to Sealy, Texas, for some good folks to take a look at one-of-300 examples of the muscle sedan. Now, that's obviously Hennessey Performance's territory, and they recently took some time to show us what makes this monster suitably unique – both from the factory and after receiving the H1000 upgrade package.

As such, the beast of a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 Hemi engine was massaged by the company to 1,000 hp at 6,500 rpm and 'just' 948 lb-ft (1,285 Nm) of heart-stopping torque at 4,200 rpm. As always, the package also includes a three-year/36k-mile warranty plus some chassis dyno testing and up to 500 miles of road tests –, but on this occasion, they weren't 'kind' enough to include some of the usual burnout/donut/quarter-mile acceleration shenanigans. Oh well, maybe we will be luckier to see them in the tuner's next video!
