Cities where trams, trolley buses and regular buses coexist with smaller vehicles requires drivers to pay special attention to them - especially to trams. However, tram drivers should also pay attention to where they’re going, in order not to smash into other cars, because when they do, it usually turns quite ugly, quite quickly.
The tram driver in this video probably does not see the Subaru Forester sitting behind a stopped trolley bus, and so, the inevitable happens - the car gets literally sandwiched between the two. Also, considering the fact that trams carry a lot of inertia and, for instance, need about 60 meters to stop from 50 km/h, the fact that the Subaru is crushed is not that surprising.
Thankfully, the occupants of the car were unharmed, yet three people aboard the tram were taken to hospital for minor injuries. We are curious to see who will be blamed for this? Was it the Subaru driver for wondering onto the tram lines, or the tram driver who wasn’t paying attention - or maybe it was done on purpose to deter drivers from using tram lines as an extra lane in heavy congestion.
