The story behind this little video is both amusing and disturbing at the same time. Apparently, the tram’s conductor got out to check the vehicle, as it wasn’t starting. While he was checking it, he got electrocuted and afterward, the tram sped off full of passengers. To everyone’s relief nobody got hurt, only a few cars got damaged.
This goes to show how dangerous improper maintenance of trams is and what it leads to. This incident could have ended much worse, and only luck saved the countless people that could have been hurt.
Since we live in such technologically advanced times, with innovations like Cadillac’s Super Cruise system being perfected, could they not be applied a lot more simply to a tram and make it fully autonomous and much, much safer?
