As a result, temporary workers whose contracts expired are free to leave the factory. The shrinking numbers of workers has already affected the total vehicles production. The 310,000 units total factory capacity fell to just 185,000 units.

However, according to the sources, the assembly plant won’t layoff any of its permanent workers and that contracted personnel was treated the same way as the residents.

Spreading across 432 acres (1.7 square km), the Toyota Kirloskar factory in Bidadi, Karnataka, was founded on 6th of October 1997. The plant is currently assembling the Toyota Corolla, Innova, Etios, Fortuner and Camry models.
