The debut of iOS 17 a few weeks ago has spawned an avalanche of app updates, as developers didn't want to miss the opportunity to spoil their users with functionality included in the latest iPhone operating system.
ChargePoint is one of the big names that received a major update, as versions 5.118.0 and 5.118.1 prepare the app for devices running iOS 17.

ChargePoint has become a must-have application for EV owners, providing information on the charging station network in most locations worldwide. Drivers can see the availability of charging stations in real-time, get updates about their charging status, join a waitlist at a busy charging station, and access information from CarPlay or the Apple Watch.

ChargePoint offers an all-in-one package, and thanks to these latest updates, it's now ready for the updated experience available on iPhones.

The update supports the new StandBy mode available on the iPhone. With StandBy, Apple allows users to see widgets and essential information when the device is connected to the charger and placed on its side. ChargePoint joins the fun with charging status and control for the home charger from the lock screen.

iOS 17 introduces interactive widgets, so the information you see on the screen is no longer static. For example, music apps now allow users to control playback from the widgets, so they don't have to launch the full app to play and pause the audio. ChargePoint's iOS 17 support includes interactive widget buttons to start and stop charging the Home Charger. It also comes with a refresh button to let users manually update the information shown in the widget.

And speaking of widgets, they also come with an improved look for the Charging Status and the Home Charger.

The latest build includes additional fixes for payments, as well as further widget refinements for the Home Charger widget for the previous iOS versions.

iOS 17 brings lots of goodies to iPhone and CarPlay users, but at the same time, it also causes a flood of problems, starting with overheating and ending with broken features. Apple has already released several minor revisions to the update, but the problems continue, with CarPlay users claiming that their phones sometimes disconnect without any change on their sides.

I'm also experiencing a sudden overheating on an iPhone 14 Pro running CarPlay wirelessly and updated to the latest iOS version. Everything worked correctly before installing the update, but now my iPhone enters temperature protection mode whenever I run CarPlay for over 30 minutes.

The latest ChargePoint versions are already available for download, and if you configured the App Store to automatically install new updates, you should already be running the latest and greatest build with the goodies mentioned above.
