With so many gadgets and devices to support our current lifestyle and with energy prices constantly going up, we need to carefully monitor and control our power usage. The Smart Panel from Span is an intelligent electric panel that gives you valuable insights into your home energy use.
Our homes keep on getting smarter in terms of gadgets and appliances, and greener when it comes to the type of energy we choose to power our household. But our standard electric panels have failed to keep up and still rely on an outdated technology that’s a century old.

Span is a company founded by former Tesla engineer Arch Rao and plans to fix that problem with its newest product, the Smart Panel.

The Span Smart Panel is the company’s second intelligent electric panel, but a more compact, versatile one. It is priced at $3,500 plus the cost of installation, but Span ensures that the price is the same as if you would replace a traditional panel.

The Smart Panel is designed for both indoor and outdoor spaces, as it is weather-resistant and can cope with rain, snow, or heat. It can power small or big circuits and appliances and lets you control how and when you power them. You can monitor and control your usage from anywhere, through the Span app, which is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.

According to Span’s explanations, the panel works as the computer and the app acts as the operating system. The app lets you know how many outages there were during a specific timeframe, gives you the energy usage per week or month, your solar summary (the amount of solar energy generated and what it powered), analyzes the usage for every room of the house, gives you control of every circuit in the house by activity, lets you know whether certain appliances use more energy than usual, and many other useful insights.

The Smart Panel also works with Alexa and offers multiple connectivity options such as Bluetooth, WiFi, Cellular LTE, and Ethernet.
