By now, we’ve heard all the “Swinger jokes”, so it might pain you to learn that Dodge wasn’t thinking dirty thoughts when they decided to revive the Swinger nameplate back in 2022 as part of their ‘Last Call’ initiative for the Challenger and Charger.
These special edition muscle cars are meant to pay tribute to the Dodge Dart Swinger, whose name used to evoke a feeling of fun and a certain freedom – later on this word would become associated with a certain lifestyle, but back in those days, it wasn’t.

Dodge was having a lot of fun with naming car specs back then, and here’s what they had to say about the Dart Swinger 340: “Play your cards right, and three bills can put you in a whole lot of car this year. Dart Swinger 340. Newest member of the Dodge Scat Pack. You don’t make it on looks alone. 340 cubes of high-winding, 4-barrel V8. A 4-speed Hurst on the floor to keep things moving. All the other credentials are in order.”

Man, they don’t write them like this anymore. They really knew how to keep it swinging back then.

Now, if you’re the type of person who appreciates driving a car that can easily be described as fun, get a load of this Last Call 2023 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody Swinger Special Edition! Those are a whole lot of names, I know.

Visually, this comes with a pearl green paintjob dubbed Sublime Pearl, a black trunk stripe, Mopar shaker hood, widebody fenders, Gold School badging, front and rear spoilers, plus a set of Gold School 20-inch wheels with 305/35 Pirelli P Zero tires. This Challenger also rocks HID headlights, rain-sensing wipers, heated side mirrors, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, adaptive dampers, and Brembo brakes.

Moving on to the interior, you’ve got your heated and ventilated front bucket seats and rear bench (with Alcantara inserts and Basil Green stitching) to go with more Basil Green on the dashboard, center console, and door panels.

Meanwhile, amenities include the woodgrain-style aluminum trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, keyless entry, ambient lighting, the Uconnect infotainment system, an 18-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound system with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, plus active safety systems like Blind-Spot monitoring, Rear Cross-Path Detection, Forward Collision Warning, and adaptive cruise control.

Behind the heated, flat-bottom steering wheel lies a digital odometer which reads 30 miles (49 km), making this special edition Challenger basically still brand-new.

As for what’s going on underneath the hood, that’s where the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 resides, with its 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Everything gets sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic gearbox. By the way, there’s also a Last Call plaque positioned under the hood right by the driver-side headlight. It’s a neat little touch.
