Van life is often perceived as an adventure best fit for singles or couples, but there are camper van conversions that make it possible even for small families to experience this lifestyle together. The Polly camper van from British company Vanpuravida, for instance, allows a family of five to embark on a van life journey without compromising on comfort and style.
Many families go on extended road trips to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city or even dream of making travel their daily life and embark on a four-wheeled adventure to explore the world. While some choose an RV or a camping trailer to turn their dream into reality, others would rather go for a van conversion because this kind of build is more versatile and is easier to drive, park, and turn around.

There are plenty of reliable van conversions that can support an individual's or a couple's outdoor adventures, but not that many that are suitable for family life on the road. That's why the Polly design from the Chelmsford-based outfitter is worth taking a look at. It's as ingenious as it is unique and might serve as a source of inspiration for those who want to build their own rig to embrace simplicity, commune more deeply with nature, and find beauty in every single moment.

Polly is based on the British company's Alps layout and is the kind of build that allows you to leave home and explore new places without leaving behind the comforts of home. Like all the campervans in Vanpuravida's portfolio, this is a custom conversion designed with high-end functionality and a stunning, stylish interior that makes you feel at home wherever your adventures take you.

This bespoke home on wheels was created as part of a giveaway run by Vanny Campers, where you can win a campervan every month. The aim was to provide a campervan option for larger families. Polly is based on a Mercedes Sprinter LWB van and boasts an ingenious layout with two extra rear passenger seats with seatbelts that open up a lot of possibilities and allow families to travel together in complete safety. In total, it can sit and sleep up to five people.

All five seatbelted seats at the front have been reupholstered in brown leather to match the design of the rest of the van, which boasts a minimalist Scandinavian style with natural colors and materials reminding of the forest.

There are plenty of things to love about this van conversion, including the large dining area at the rear, the "real” L-shaped kitchen with curved corners, the optional lift-up bed, the spacious bathroom with its gorgeous fluted oak panels, and the incredible amount of storage space.

But the most intriguing thing about this home on wheels is its very unique layout. While most camper van conversions keep the interior open with a unified, functional space where you can live, sleep, and cook, Polly makes things differently, with separate areas for traveling, cooking, and living/sleeping. Though the available square footage inside the van is limited, the designers managed to create a sense of separation between these areas without making the space feel cramped.

The cab section with the rear passenger seats is, obviously, the space dedicated to travel time. Behind the passenger seats, there is a slated partition wall that separates this area from the kitchen and the rest of the living area, giving the interior a very homey look and vibe. This way, you won't feel like you are in a car while cooking.

Similarly, the kitchen is separated from the dining/sleeping area in the back. In this case, the sense of separation is created by the bathroom and the pantry wall.

The kitchen is furnished with custom dark blue cabinets and has an L-shape for space-saving reasons. All the corners are curved to add elegance to the space and also for ease of movement in the van. The bamboo kitchen countertops and beautiful wallpaper backsplash further highlight the refined style of the cooking area. In terms of appliances, there is a two-hob cooktop fueled by a refillable gas tank, a round sink with cover, and a large Thetford T2090 fridge/freezer. The gas tank, along with the water tanks, is located under the van.

The rear of the van is dedicated to lounging, dining, and sleeping. There are two long storage-integrated benches along the side walls and a bamboo table with removable legs that create a nice dinette for the whole family. Using a few extra cushions, the benches convert into a large king-size bed.

The designers also installed an electric lift-up bed to increase this camper's sleeping capacity. Elevator beds are a great space-saving solution for camper vans, and they stay out of the way during the day. The one inside Polly measures 130 x 160 cm and can accommodate three young children. A slide-out ladder hidden under the bed ensures easy access to it.

A skylight above the bed and two round back windows that resemble portholes in ships keep the living area bright and airy.

No modern camper conversion can go without a proper bathroom. Polly has a big enough shower room to enjoy a warm cleanse after a day of exploration. Its exterior walls are clad in fluted oak panels, while the interior has mint mosaic tiles for a sleek look. A portable toilet can also be stored inside the shower room or under the sofa.

The Polly camper van conversion excels in terms of storage as well, with three overhead cabinets with bamboo strips and clever sliding access under the sofas in the dining space.

For fully off-grid adventures, the van also has a Whale Heat Air system and a 300W solar panel installed on the roof charging a Roamers Lithium battery. Since this is a custom creation, we have no details about pricing, but a Vanpuravida build based on an LWB chassis starts at £39,990 (which is approx. $49,860) without the cost of the base vehicle.
