Ever wonder what happens when you take an 18-wheeler and drop a mobile home on the back of it? If you have, then this journey into one of Renegade RV's 2024 models is sure to answer all questions and even spark a future purchase of one of these ravishing machines.
Folks, the monstrous motorhome before us is nothing more than the work of Renegade RV, one of America's beloved wheeled habitat manufacturers. It's dubbed the Renegade XL, and the version before us today is the 2024 model. Furthermore, the XL comes across as the largest of the Super Class C vehicles this team offers; I feel we can consider it the flagship for this year.

But before we go on, let's take a look at who's behind the magic, in this case, Renegade RV. If this name sounds familiar to you, then you may have had contact with the REV Group of companies. They're the one and the same that acquired Fleetwood RV, American Coach, Holiday Rambler, Lance, and countless others since their beginnings.

Now, a team that's currently responsible for some of America's most effective and beloved brands is bound to whip up something remarkable, to say the least. Well, to give us an idea of what we're up against here, I've decided to create a picture for you as to what a life lived out of an XL may be like. To do that, I want you to pretend that you've spent around $700K and are now the proud owner of such a machine.

When and if you do, you'll find yourself behind the wheel of a Freightliner Cascadia 126 tandem-axle truck powered by a Detroit DD16 Engine with 600 hp and a peak torque output of 1,850 lb-ft. This powerhouse is strong enough to handle all 58,000 lbs (26,308 kg) of GVWR and an extra 30,000 lbs (13,607 kg) of towed cargo.

If we consider that a 2024 Cascadia is typically selling for around $175K, then you can understand why the price tag. The rest of this motorhome's value is all about how it's built and the sort of features in place. Oh, and the fact that it can be used for year-round living; it's a Class C but on a "Super" level.

For example, Renegade crafts each XL with 2-inch vacuum laminated sidewalls sitting atop an aluminum frame. Inside, 1.5 inches of high-density foam insulation in the roof and walls ensure the year-round livability I mentioned. Then there's the floor, complete with a composite underbelly and thermal and acoustic insulation. Best of all, the shells that make up any of the four available floorplans have been designed around multiple slideouts that help expand the interior to nearly double its size.

However, it's not necessarily size that the XL focuses on, but rather, what to do with it. I'm talking about how Renegade has stuffed each unit with all the features and appliances we would ever need to live a comfortable life on the road.

I'm talking about goodies like 600 W of solar panel power, an HVAC setup, a washer/dryer combo, keyless entry, a whole-house water filtration system for all 150 gals (568 l) of fresh water, and so much more. Three AC units, Samsung and Bose hardware, and an Onan generator are also part of the mix.

As for the interior of these RVs, Renegade uses maple hardwood to craft the cabinetry, porcelain for the flooring, brushed nickel for faucets and handles, and Cambria quartz countertops throughout the galley and bathrooms. Speaking of bathrooms, most units include two of them, a feature that's not to be underestimated.

While you explore the video below and images in the gallery, be sure to also notice the countless seating options tattered all over the units. Why? Simply because these very same spaces will transform into the bedrooms of your extended family, and with bunk beds, there's no telling how many folks can join you on your trip.

Now, take all you've seen and read, sprinkle in some options, place yourself in the center of the action, and your life with a Renegade XL should go something a little like this: the kids are out of college with stable and secure future, and you've decided to sell the house. After all, you've always known you wanted a motorhome, and this year, everything just fell into place. So you purchase an XL and gather the family to celebrate with a trip around the US.

As the days pass, you'll find yourself seeing a side of your country that you probably have never seen before, and every now and again, you rest up for a few days in some RV park. If you're lucky, you've got connections at some vineyard and can park your XL overlooking the valley below.

With your mobile home/campsite now sprawled out all over the place, you find yourself sitting in the shade of lateral awnings and sharing stories of days past and futures to come. All the while, some light music and/or the Sunday game is transmitted via the outdoor entertainment center, a fire is being worked on for the evening hours, and someone just proposed you unload those inflatable SUPs and head out for a ride on the local lake.

It sounds like the sort of lifestyle most people want and dream of, and Renegade is one of the crews making this possible. All that I need to do now is come up with around $700K and take things into my own hands.
