Beat the Urban Rat Race With a 2024 London Aire and Never Look Back: Spend Nearly $1M

Folks, the name Newmar has been synonymous with luxury mobile living for as long as most of us can remember. Considering they've been around since 1968, they've had plenty of time to finetune their machines to their customers' exact needs.

All that brings us to the upcoming year's London Aire, a wheeled home that starts off priced at no less than $909K (€825 at current exchange rates). But, to go through all the little itsy bitsy features and nooks and crannies of this bugger would be rather boring. Instead, I invite you to kick back for a moment and picture yourself living out of this RV.

Our daydream begins with you in the seat of Newmar's redesigned cockpit, a space that not only comes across as fresh and modern but is filled to the brim with all the digital panels you'd ever need to keep an eye on every aspect of your experience. Electronic Stability Control (ESC), collision mitigation, lane tracking, and several other safety systems are also part of the package. Apple Car Play, anyone? That's available, too.

From here, you'll be controlling a 45-foot-long motorhome that's built around a Spartan K3 tag axle chassis. Suppose you don't know anything about Spartan. In that case, they're one of the teams that build firetruck chassis, so you know you won't have any trouble loading this puppy up with all your goods and, if needed, even pull a trailer along behind you. A 605 hp Cummins X diesel engine will be responsible for the power to get you moving.

Now, as I explored the London Aire, I ran across a rather interesting statement underlining what this RV is all about: "comfort and stress-reducing" living. All of that's aimed at making your experience as pleasurable as possible, and to do so, Newmar has called upon nothing more than the most modern technology available.

Let me start off by pointing out that three AC units will ensure you're comfortable during the summer months, and during winter, dual-loop heating and on-demand hot water are covered by Chinook. All that will be sucking juice from your shore power connection, a 12.5 kW Cummins Onan generator, or you can drop some extra cash on a beefy solar panel setup.

Once you've finally found that spot where you'll be spending the next few days to a week(s), park your behemoth, and, at the press of a button, kick back and watch your London Aire almost double in size. I'm talking about activating the countless slideouts the five floorplans have in store. Take a moment to witness your home come to life, and let's continue.

After every section of the Aire is in place, you can begin your stroll through its main hall. As you do, be sure to notice the modular sofas in the living room and the storage options overhead. Feel the porcelain flooring under your feet, or maybe you've added some sheepskin rugs. God knows they'll fit right in with the cream leather seating and darkened cabinetry and ceiling accents; this is just one of several trim options Newmar offers for the fresh lineup.

Since this is the place where you'll likely spend most of your evenings, take a moment to kick back on the couch, press a button, and witness a TV lift from behind one of the couches, crank up the volume on a Bose sound bar, or just enjoy intimate meals with the family at the dinette just beyond the living room.

What I feel needs to be pointed out for this unit is the presence of residential-sized appliances, all designed to support the lifestyle of extended families. Don't feel like washing dishes by hand? Fulfill that wish from the options list. Personally, I love to eat, so upon seeing the kitchen, I knew right away that I'd have all the necessary tools to whip up the meals I had in mind.

Toward the rear of these luxurious wheeled homes, Newmar adds the main bedroom where owners will be able to access the largest of king beds, store all their clothes and accessories in large wardrobes, and kick back and watch some TV. Best of all, an ensuite bathroom that puts the one in my home to shame is available in each and every floorplan.

In short, if you don't feel like mingling with the rest of the gang, you don't have to; just have someone leave food at the door. Don't worry either; guests will have access to a service bathroom placed before the bedroom, so you won't be bothered.

All that's just a taste of what the interior of each of these units has to offer, but if I were to continue, your Christmas Eve dinner would probably get cold. Instead, let's take a quick look outdoors to taste what outdoor living may be like with the London Aire.

When you're finally ready to whip up your campsite, all you have to do is start unlocking the little storage bays tattered all over the London Aire and whip out things like a tent, gazebo, outdoor dining set, inflatable mattresses, stand-up paddle boards, skis and snowboards if you're traveling around from ski resort to ski resort, mobile cooking set, pull-out the fridge tray, and...you get the idea.

In layman's terms, there's no shortage of space for everything you need on your trips. Planning on spending as much outdoors as possible? Look into the long list of optional outdoor gear, including an entertainment center, if you like blaring music while fixing up ATVs and whatnot while spending time around the London Aire with the family. Where did the motorized gear come from? These puppies have the power to haul a trailer behind them, so bring along a toy hauler if you have one.

Picture that for a moment. You and the gang decide to head out to some sand dunes for the next few days or so, and the London Aire has the power and capabilities to meet all your needs while you're out there. Whip up soul-nourishing meals, entertain guests, unleash a wicked campsite, freshen up in spa-like bathrooms, and catch the game on satellite TV. Yup, sounds like the sort of near-million-dollar motorhome we want.
