In a world where opportunities to bond with nature and our roots are increasingly scarce, the tiny movement allows people to enjoy the outdoors more and focus on what matters most: experiences and relationships. With the added benefit of affordability, micro-living also suits the now-dominating remote work environment, as many tiny houses are also mobile and can be taken on the road if they meet specific size limits dictated by state laws.
One of the most esteemed manufacturers that create beautiful and functional tiny houses to rediscover nature, time, and landscape is Handcrafted Movement. The Tennessee-based builder is known for crafting unique dwellings that prove tiny living can be synonymous with living more fully and more intentionally while enjoying the same level of luxury and comfort as in a traditional home.

The Catalina tiny home model is a perfect example of how the team manages to balance style and functionality in a petite structure built with quality materials to last for years to come.

Handcrafted Movement is a family-owned business from outside Portland, Oregon. The members of their team have years of experience in construction and all the required skills to build exquisite tiny habitats that are more like "Art you can live in" and offer more than just the bare necessities. We've seen it with previous models like Hideaway, Pacific Harmony, and Urban Craftsman, and we're seeing it again with the Catalina tiny house on wheels. Boasting a modern exterior dipped in navy blue and white and a bright white interior that can serve as a canvas for the owner to put their personality stamp on it, this compact home is any minimalist's dream come true.

Many people unfamiliar with the ins and outs of tiny living might think that these small abodes are cramped and that living permanently in one means compromising on space and amenities. Catalina proves that this assumption could not be further from the truth.

The model measures 31 feet (9.44 meters) in length and 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) in width and is built on an Iron Eagle trailer with 7K axles. The layout is not meant to innovate but is practical enough for a couple or a small family, incorporating a beautiful kitchen and dining space, a downstairs flex room, two bedroom lofts, and a bathroom.

The exterior instantly stands out with the two-tone paint scheme - deep navy on the lower part and white on the upper side - the accent shutters, and the matte black standing seam metal roof. The structure also comes with trailer brakes, built-in leveling jacks for increased stability, and road lighting for better visibility on the road.

A stylish French door leads inside the Catalina, where you are welcomed into a white-washed open-space living and kitchen area. The pristine walls and ceilings are complemented by light wood flooring and a slew of windows that make the space feel fresh and airy.

The minute living room has just enough space for a couch or loveseat sofa that will be placed in front of a small fireplace built into the staircase leading to one of the lofts. Besides giving the space a homey feel, this fireplace will keep the home warm and cozy.

The fully-functional kitchen has all the cabinets aligned against one of the walls and faces a dining area with a removable table and a built-in bench for two. The compact kitchen might seem small, but it offers plenty of overhead and under-counter storage in cabinets and open shelves and is well-equipped to allow inhabitants to cook their signature dishes with ease. The appliances included range from a stainless steel two-door refrigerator with automatic defrost to an LP gas range, an oven, a custom vented hood, and a farmhouse sink. The counter space might not be very generous but suffices for meal preparation.

The downstairs flex area is at the left end of the tiny house on wheels and is separated from the rest of the ground floor by a white sliding barn door. Owners can use it as they see fit, depending on their needs. It could be a bedroom, a home office, or even an extra lounging and entertaining space.

The only other room downstairs is the bathroom, which might be small but comes with all the basics to take care of sanitary needs. It features a tiled shower, a flush toilet, a sink with vanity, as well as some built-in storage.

Both lofts in this tiny home serve as sleeping spaces and feature railings for safety. The main loft lies above the bathroom and can be accessed via a storage-integrated staircase with an intricate wooden railing. In this space, the ceiling is not high enough to stand up, but there is enough room to accommodate a king-sized bed, as well as some bookcases or small storage units for clothes and knick-knacks.

A ladder-style staircase, the one that integrates the fireplace, leads to the second loft, which can also fit a king-size bed. Big windows in both lofts allow plenty of natural light to get in.

The beautifully simple Catalina tiny home on wheels captures the very essence of minimalism and mobile living while also showing that downsizing your life does not have to mean compromising on modern amenities and style. This unit costs $135,000, and besides the above-mentioned features, it also comes equipped with a mini-split system for air conditioning and heating, a Rinnai LP tankless water heater, a propane auto-changeover valve, and three exterior power outlets.
