The tiny living phenomenon was born to maximize freedom above anything else, starting with the ability to travel and move to any destination, and continuing with the reasonable housing costs that allow owners to actually enjoy their lives without the constant burden of high taxes and bills. A house like the Eco Traveller embodies this philosophy perfectly, also demonstrating that compact dimensions and mobility don't automatically sacrifice style and comfort.
Some might believe that you can't expect too much from a small dwelling with less than five meters in length. At 4.8 meters (15.7 feet), the Eco Traveller is truly compact and smaller than most tiny homes available today. The minimal length is paired with a 2.4-meter width (7.8 feet) and a 3.7-meter height (12 feet), resulting in a total floor space of just 11.5 square meters (123.7 square feet).

On one hand, this compact size makes the Eco Traveller extra practical. This house, one of the models in the Tiny House by Hangan range, was specifically designed for maximum freedom on all levels. It's an excellent choice for affordable housing, it's easy to maintain, and, as its name suggests, it can travel anywhere, which makes it the perfect companion for adventure seekers. To top things off, this tiny abode is also equipped for 100% off-grid living, allowing its owners to travel anywhere and spend considerable time on the road without worrying about basic comfort.

On the other hand, the Eco Traveller will surprise guests with its stylish interior design. This isn't a rugged dwelling that ditches modern comfort and aesthetically pleasing features just to enhance its connection with nature. On the inside, this road companion is just as cozy and comfy as a traditional home on a smaller scale.

The beautiful solid-base bed is cleverly placed right next to a huge window that takes up almost the entire side wall. It's also built with ample storage underneath since storage can become an issue when there's limited floor space available. Flexibility and multi-purpose items are key when it comes to tiny house functionality. With a panoramic window like that, it's like waking up inside a luxury resort room every day – the Eco Traveller's dwellers might even forget about the wheels.

The kitchenette looks outstandingly better than most in compact tiny houses. It features a beautiful wooden countertop handmade out of Tasmanian Oak timber. It's small, but precious details such as this that add character and depth to this small abode. Right next to it, a fold-down desk that was also made of Tasmanian Oak is a functional feature with an aesthetic function as well. Similar to classic RV-style furniture, it can double as a compact but convenient dining setup without getting in the way when not in use.

When it comes to appliances, the Eco Traveller is surprisingly well-appointed. The kitchen is fitted with an electric cooktop and a mini fridge. A Mitsubishi air-conditioning system keeps the right temperature at all times, and electricity is also used for hot water. In the bathroom, which is the only separate area in the house, the owners will find a full-size shower, a large ceramic sink, and a composting toilet.

The composting toilet is an important part of the off-grid setup, which includes four solar panels and battery storage. In order to successfully pass the weather test even in harsh conditions, this small but mighty abode features waterproof hybrid floors and high-quality insulation for the roof and walls.

A beautiful feature wall made of Cedarwood is one of those unexpected elements that instantly elevate a home's style. Wood-crafted shelves of various sizes and shapes also play a double role – they are not only functional but also stylish. Even the ultra-compact bedroom area boasts additional smart storage in the form of a tiny nightstand, a wall-mounted shelf, and overhead open shelves. Functionality is maximized without taking up too much space.

The fine craftsmanship and high-quality appliances are enough to take the Eco Traveller from a basic mobile house to a modern, comfortable home. It's ideal for one person but can sleep two people. Since it's so small, lightweight (around two tons), and completely off-grid, the Eco Traveller is also remarkably versatile.

It could be used as a guest house, a vacation home, a rental, or even a starter home for someone who is eco-aware and who doesn't want to break the bank (the completed version starts at just AUD 69,000/$46,300).

The Eco Traveller is one of the most compact and affordable models offered by Tiny House by Hangan, an Australian builder located in the famous Yarra Valley. Indi and Dominique were inspired by the popularity of the tiny house movement in the US and had an eco-friendly approach since the beginning.

The company grew from a small startup back in 2017 to a strong builder in the present time, when its team is able to work on 20 tiny homes at the same time. Australia is one of the places where tiny living is immensely popular, and with models like the Eco Traveller, we can see why.
