While people proudly showcase their camper lifestyle, others prefer to go unnoticed and camp stealthily. Today, I'm checking out a stealthy box truck that is an ultra-functional tiny home on wheels.
Before we take a closer look at this rig, let's clarify something: why would anybody want to stealth camp? In my opinion, there are two reasons: peace of mind and free parking.

By disguising your mobile home as a stock cargo van, you can sleep in places that don't allow mobile homes to camp. People stealth camp in public places such as parking lots, on city streets, or in front of stores, hiding themselves in plain sight.

Some places are more dangerous than others, and when you live in a vehicle, you can easily be targeted by thieves. With a stealthy camper, you won't attract any attention, thus minimizing the chances of any ill-intended people breaking into your home.

That being said, let's move on to the tour. What we have here is a 2016 Isuzu flatbed truck owned by Joe. I'll start with the exterior features – the first thing you'll notice is the enormous custom box that sits on the truck. Moreover, even though it's got multiple windows on the side, it can still pass as a cargo truck. The cherry on top is its white paint, which makes it look even more standard.

On the right side of the rig, you'll discover an enormous garage area, which is located directly below the bed. This is where Joe stores a freshwater tank, various tools, chairs, a WeBoost, and more. Surprisingly, there's another compartment that mirrors the garage, offering a ton of additional space for storage. This is where Joe stores the camper's batteries and a heater that keeps the space warm.

Step inside, and you'll discover the kitchen on your left, which Joe describes as "similar to a sailboat's galley." It features a Dometic round sink, a huge dual-burner induction stove, a microwave, two spacious overhead cabinets, and various drawers and cabinets underneath the countertop. Moreover, you get plenty of natural light when cooking via a large window right behind the kitchen, while a Maxxair fan up above keeps the room ventilated.

On the right side, Joe added a sizeable closet featuring a hanging space and shelves. Underneath it, you'll find a slide-out fridge/freezer.

Walk deeper inside this camper, and you'll be in the living room/dining room – Joe said it's his most utilized space in the camper. There are two setups for this place: for dining and for lounging. When Joe wants to relax, he can transform the area into a long couch. If he has guests over, he can devise two benches and add a table in between. An enormous 6-foot (18 centimeters) window enables him to take in the beautiful view while lying down or enjoying a nice meal.

Opposite this spot, you'll find what Joe describes as "the tower of power," the truck's electrical system. It consists of an inverter and batteries with a massive 1,064 Ah capacity (this is more than I've seen on most of the hundreds of campers I've written about) connected to 600 W solar panels on the roof. Joe explains that even though he has a shore power connection, he has never used it. Moreover, the batteries can be charged while driving.

While we're on the topic of utilities, let me tell you about the other system integrated into this camper. Joe fitted a heater fed directly from the vehicle's gas tank that provides hot air and hot water. There's also a separate heater that warms up the bathroom. On those really hot days, Joe fitted a ceiling A/C that can quickly cool the interior.

And finally, let's discuss plumbing. Given the large interior space this camper box offers, Joe had to fit a bathroom inside. Its door is located right next to the electrical system wall. Step inside, and you'll notice a shower and a toilet. You won't get to see it in this article's pictures or videos, but I'm guessing it's a simple space. Furthermore, all the water inside this rig is provided by a 100-gallon (379-liter) freshwater tank, and it ends up in a gray water tank.

The bedroom is the closest part to the vehicle's driver's cabin. The mattress is a little smaller compared to a queen-size one, but it still offers plenty of sleeping space. This room is also very well-lit through two side windows and a hatch up above, which is large enough to fit through it.

Regarding storage, Joe has two overhead cabinets and two other compartments near the bed, as well as an under-floor compartment and another door underneath the bed that leads to the garage.

All in all, this is a cozy and well-equipped tiny home on wheels, one that stands out with its very capable utility systems. What's more, it's fantastic how much storage space you get in this camper, both inside and outside.
