The 1969 Dodge Charger is essentially an awesome car that would be nice to have even after all these years, no matter if it’s a project car or a restored model that serves as your daily driver.
And it goes without saying that Chargers typically get a lot of love from people all over the world, no matter the condition, but you wouldn’t necessarily expect a rust bucket to get too much love.
And yet, Charger fans are once again taking us by surprise, with tens of people racing against each other to secure a ‘69 model that it’s in a terrible condition. At the time of writing, the highest bid in this unexpected eBay auction has already reached $5,600.
While the photos pretty much speak for themselves, the seller wanted to make it clear: the car is not regularly driven and it needs work.
“This is a parts car this car was not originally a 440 car bought a few years back for a parts car but I didn’t need it,” the owner says.
“[The] car was not in much better condition when I bought it but it’s getting worse, it’s time for it to go to someone with a use and time for it the frame is collapsed into the trunk on the passenger side,” they add.
The only good thing about this Charger is that all glass is intact, as seen in the photo gallery.
The 440ci (7.2 liter) engine is not the original one that came with the car, but it was still working some time ago, the owner continues. And of course, you can give it a try if you’re brave enough to get inside given that parts of the car are literally collapsing into the cabin.
While it’s sad to see a Charger in this condition, this auction is worth keeping an eye on, especially as people seem to want it so hard they’re willing to spend a little fortune for it.
