Tesla is trying to do anything to outperform aftermarket experts who have been specializing in offering customization options for the Cybertruck. The automaker has come up with six new wrap colors, and this time, it seems that they finally nailed it!
Tesla knows it has been trailing behind aftermarket shops that offer every wrap option one can think of, from the color-shifting spectrum wrap to the one mimicking the design of the DeLorean DMC-12 from the "Back to the Future" blockbuster.
So it is now doing anything it can to try to close that gap and is rolling out six brand-new color wraps at once, finally offering the Cybertruck owners serious options for customization. There are now a total of 11 colors in the lineup with prices of either $6,000 or $6,500.
The one that would probably turn the largest number of heads is the Satin Crimson Red, which is a shade of dark red. The Copper Tinted Clear is a shade of gold, but it seems more intense than the Rose Gold that Tesla introduced at the end of last month.
Tactical Green and Forest Green might also get some attention. We have already seen a Cybertruck in Military Green, but that was an aftermarket solution.
Iridescent Purple seems to be halfway between dark purple and dark blue. However, we have already seen the Cybertruck in Midnight Purple, a shade that looks black in the dark and bright purple in direct sunlight.
Satin Dark Grey is for those who would like to keep a low profile in traffic if there is any chance of doing so in a Cybertruck. Probably not, but still.
The first color wrap options offered by Tesla were Satin Stealth Black and Satin Ceramic White. At the end of February, the automaker started offering the Satin Rose Gold, the Satin Abyss Blue, and the Slip Grey. These three are available for $6,000, while all others can be purchased for $6,500.
The list of wrap colors now offered by Tesla for the Cybertruck:
The first Cybertruck sporting a wrap was the one that showed up at a Coffee and Cars event even before Tesla held the handover event at the Giga Texas. It was Tesla's Design Chief, Franz von Holzauhsen, who drove it there.
A clear satin film to protect the body of the model is also available at $5,000. The costs of every wrap include the materials and installation. But you will have to travel to one of the official Tesla shops located either in California or in Austin, Texas, leave the vehicle there, and come pick it up a few days later.
However, the automaker will provide customers with a loaner vehicle while they can't use their own.
