The X2 xDrive20d is the new version in the lineup of the second-generation BMW X2. Meanwhile, the German carmaker will also introduce a more affordable electric version starting this upcoming March.
BMW is already rolling out updates on the newly launched second-generation X2, even though the market launch won't happen before this upcoming spring. The BMW iX2 eDrive20 is set in motion by an electric motor mounted on the front axle.

It generates 204 metric horsepower (201 horsepower) in a front-wheel drive setup. That is enough for an acceleration from 0 to 100 kph (0 to 62 mph) in 8.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 170 kph (106 mph). The figures mirror this of the www.autoevolution.com/cars/bmw-ix1-2022.html#aeng_bmw-ix1-2022-30-xdrive-647-kwh-awd-313-hpiX1 eDrive 20, launched in September 2023 on the European market.

This iX2 version is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 64.78 kWh, which stores enough energy to make this version drive between 439 and 478 kilometers (between 273 and 297 miles), according to the WLTP testing cycle, before it needs to be plugged in again.

The battery can be fed via AC connections with a standard output of 11 kW or optionally with up to 22 kWh. It can receive direct current with an output of up to 130 kW. Once connected to a fast charging station, the BMW iX2 eDrive20 can be charged within ten minutes for 120 kilometers (75 miles). The car is also compatible with the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function as standard.

There is also a new diesel variant making its way to the X2 lineup. It is the BMW X2 xDrive20d with mild hybrid technology, set to slot above the X2 sDrive18d. It is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which works alongside an electric motor integrated into the seven-speed dual-clutch Steptronic transmission.

The electric motor is designed to act as a crankshaft starter generator and can both relieve and support the 2.0-liter diesel, bringing 19 metric horsepower (18.7 horsepower) and 55 Newton meters (40.5 pound-feet) to the 150 metric horsepower (148 horsepower) and 360 Newton meters (265.5 pound-feet) generated by the internal combustion engine.

Together, they churn out a total of 163 metric horsepower (161 horsepower) and a maximum system torque of 400 Newton meters (295 pound-feet) of torque. They are all transferred to both axles via the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system.

The X2 xDrive 20d can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph (0 to 62 mph) in 8.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 207 kph (129 mph).

BMW also expands the range of exterior finishes. Customers will be able to order the new X2 and iX2, launched back in October 2023, in matte Frozen Black metallic starting this upcoming March.
