Czech carmaker Skoda continues its tireless work to offer its customers ever-more affordable motoring solutions. Their latest car is not complicated and expensive electric car, but a bi-fuel model that can run on compressed natural gas, readily available across Europe.
Headed to the Geneva Motor Show, the Skoda Octavia G-TEC is powered by the familiar 1.4-liter TSI turbo engine. But it's been detuned from 122 hp to 110 hp. Separate tanks are used to house the petrol and gas.
Running on the gaseous stuff, the tank will last you up to 410 kilometers (254 miles). Consumption is 5.4 cubic meters (3.5 kg) per 100 kilometers, with emissions of 97 grams. There's also a petrol tank, a very large one at that, which provides a range of 920 km (571 miles).
Besides the extra tank and the absurd total range of 1,330 km, which frankly makes it sound like an airplane, the Octabia G-TEC is a standard car, with plenty of space. We'll know if the pice is just as sensible when the official debut takes place in Geneva, starting March 4th.
