Camper vans are extremely popular among nature lovers, travelers, and outdoor sports enthusiasts alike, thanks to their incredible versatility. They have become the ultimate adventure vehicle thanks to their ability to offer both transportation and comfortable accommodation in one package.
The camper van we're going to look at in this piece has been specifically designed and built for a customer with a passion for dirt biking and offers the right mix of mobility, convenience, and comfort, which makes it perfect for exploring the great outdoors. It's called the Motovan and was crafted by the folks at Papago Vans, an Arizona-based team of skilled craftsmen that specializes in custom campervans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.

The owner of the Motovan was dreaming of a campervan that would allow him to bring his dirt bike on the occasional getaways without making it all about hitting the track and riding. He tasked Papago Vans with creating a layout that would store the dirt bike and also double as a cozy living/sleeping space to make the journey enjoyable.

Pulling a trailer can sometimes be a cumbersome experience; that's why the Motovan, with its versatile layout that combines all the amenities and features of a camper with the convenience of an enclosed mobile garage, is a dream come true for many of those whose hearts beat for the thrill of the racetrack.

Built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170" wheelbase, the Motovan is based on the company's El Capitan floorplan, their most luxurious build tier that can be customized with plenty of premium exterior and interior upgrades, such as off-road tires, front bumpers, roof racks, rooftop tents, and solar panels, as well as tiled showers, backsplash, and more.

The highlight of this build is definitely the versatile rear area that acts as a dinette/lounge during the day, sleeping space during the night, and mobile garage in travel mode. It is fitted with two parallel benches with integrated storage and plush cushions combined with a removable center table to create a dinette for at least four people.

The bedroom setup consists of a super comfortable memory foam mattress and a HappiJac electric bed lift system. With the push of a button, the system will raise and lower the bed platform so you can adjust the height based on your needs.

The space between the dinette benches is meant to be used as a storage garage for the owner's bike. With D Rings installed on the floor and additional anchor points on the side walls for strapping, the bike can be tucked away safely in the back of the van during transit.

An outdoor shower is available at the rear, strapped to a pony wall that nicely frames the rear lounge. This is quite a handy addition for such a build, as anyone would hate to roll their bike in the van after riding on a muddy trail or a sandy dune.

A compact yet functional galley-style kitchen occupies the center of the van and offers plenty of cabinet space, a spice rack, and beautiful acacia butcher block countertops that add style to the space. In terms of appliances, the van is equipped with an in-counter double burner induction cooktop, a microwave, a stainless steel sink with hot and cold water, and an Isotherm 7-cubic-foot refrigerator with freezer, which ensure travelers can enjoy modern functionality on the road. There is also a counter extension that creates even more work space for meal prep, as well as a small fold-down table that creates a nice spot for dining outside.

The elevator bed at the rear made it impossible to use the upper part for storage, so overhead cabinets were included in the kitchen area to add some extra space for personal belongings. What's more, both the upper and base cabinets next to the side door have side access so you can easily reach items inside without getting in the van.

The bathroom facilities are located behind the swiveling driver's seat. It's a wet bath with fiberglass walls, a shower, a dry flush toilet, and interior LED lighting.

Though it is designed for adventure, the overall ambiance inside the van is cozy and inviting, with white shiplap siding, natural wood, stained ceiling, and waterproof vinyl flooring.

On the outside, we can notice a few upgrades meant to enhance the camping experience, including side steps, a roof rack with ladder, an electric awning with integrated LED package, as well as 400 watts worth of solar panels on the roof. Other features that ensure a comfortable journey include 40 gallons of fresh water, a premium insulation package, a 12V Dometic AC unit, a Maxxair Deluxe ceiling vent fan, and a diesel- or gasoline-powered cabin heater.

We have no information on the final cost of the Motovan build, but the El Capitan model usually starts at $99,695, excluding the price of the van. With its thoughtful, versatile layout, well-equipped kitchen, and off-grid capabilities, the Motovan camper conversion by Papago Vans offers an incredible sense of freedom and flexibility. Its ability to combine accommodation, modern amenities, and transportation makes it a great option for anyone who's seeking thrilling adventures and wants to stay comfortable on the road.
