Mercedes-AMG won't turn the new-gen G 63 into a six-wheel-drive beast, but Brabus just did. Say hello to the new XLP 6x6 Adventure, a pickup version of the range-topping G-Wagen with six axles, interior and exterior enhancements, and jaw-dropping power.
Due to the extended ladder-frame chassis, a necessary move to fit an extra axle, the Brabus XLP 6x6 Adventure is longer than the Mercedes-AMG G 63 on which it builds. It features portal axles for improved off-roading, a roll bar, underride protection for the engine, transmission, and fuel tank, electric running boards with LED lighting, and carbon fiber add-ons. An electronic winch, roof rack, wind deflector, front guard, and a few other things are also included.
The new 6x6 beast rides on 9.5x22-inch wheels wrapped in 325/55 Pirelli Scorpion tires, features a Brabus brake design, and comes with Mondial Black leather upholstery in the cabin, with red piping, diamond quilting, and Heritage 77 embossing, a nod to the year Brabus was founded. The pillars were wrapped in Alcantara, and it gets illuminated 3D air vent emblems, carbon handles, paddle shifters, pedal pads, and door sills, anodized aluminum door locking pins, and a speedometer that goes up to 300 kph (186 mph).
Mind you, while the Brabus XLP 6x6 Adventure won't hit 300 kph, it will do 210 kph (130 mph) flat-out. The zero to 100 kph (0-62 mph) acceleration is a 5.8-second affair, the tuner claims, and in the 800 configuration, it boasts 800 ps (789 hp/588 kW). Available at 6,600 rpm, the torque was electronically capped at 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. The valve-controlled exhaust system makes the bi-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine more sonorous, and it comes with angled tailpipes that have 76 mm (3 in) in diameter and black chrome plating. A blow-off valve adapter is also on deck, Brabus says. The vehicle returns 18.1 l/100 km (13 mpg-US) combined and emits 420 g/km of CO2.
Besides the 800, Brabus also offers the XLP 900 6x6 Superblack, with a higher displacement engine (4.4L), 900 ps (887 hp/662 kW), and 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft) of torque for even quicker straight-line performance. Pricing is obviously out of this world, with the XLP 900 6x6 Superblack costing €1,411,679.15 (equal to $1,539,888) in Germany, including tax. As for the XLP 800 6x6 Adventure, you are looking at €1,309,698.30 or $1,428,645 at today's exchange rates.
Both models are currently on sale on the tuner's official website, and assuming you had that much cash lying around, would you really blow it all on a six-wheel drive variant of the latest-generation G-Wagen or settle for a stock one instead? The G 63 has an MSRP of $179,000 for the 2023 model year, takes 4.5 seconds to hit 60 mph (97 kph), and boasts 577 hp (585 ps/430 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque without any mods.
